Heavyweight champ Alistair Overeem told MMAJunkie.com this afternoon that he will face Brett Rogers on Strikeforce's yet-to-be-announced May 15th event.

Although nothing has been confirmed, he is expecting to face the former Sam's Club tire repairman in a non-title affair.

"He's an excellent opponent," Overeem told the website. "I'm looking forward to [smacking] his face and his loud mouth. I'm really happy that Strikeforce came with this fight so now we can settle things once and for all."

The May 15th event is rumored to take place in St. Louis, MO.

I feel sorry for whoever has to handle Alistair's piss sample.

Guy will be kissing his wife and kids goodbye for a week before handling the bubbling toxin.

    I actually beg to differ.

Ubereem will win, but I don't think he'll dominate.

Nor do I think it's beyond the realm of possibility for Rogers to score a KO.

One thing I do know, is that I'll be betting on Rogers, because I do think he has a realistic chance of winning...

Rogers can win, but Alistair's stand up is underrated while rogers' is overrated.

Even at LHW, Overeem always looked crisp until he gassed midway through the first round.

Will fedor fans still call Bret a top ten fighter after he loses first round?

I think SF just want to get the title off Overeem so he won't fuck up their plans any further.

Rogers will still take the L, though.

Rogers is a tough fighter and a top prospect, but hopefully we all realize that he wasn't at the top of the list of good Fedor opponents.

Though if the overeem thing happens and overeem wins with no issues in America, I think he solidifies himself as a big threat to Fedor. Overeem has looked outstanding in both k1 and MMA recently but there's no arguing that he hasn't faced the best of the best in the HW division (slim pickings outside UFC).
