Alot of people talk politics. Whos right or whos wrong. What i think or what you think. Who here has done something politically outside of the realm of the internet? My theory is that none of you fucks have done jack shit, so you talk about politics so passionately on the internet because outside of a classroom and rare moments at dinner with your family you dont do shit, Attending a open discussion forum does not count, im talking about an active role in politics. What have u done? I will tell you what i have done as soon as i read some of yalls wonderful replys.

To be honest, I have big things happening in 05 politically, but a lot of it is determined whether or not my area votes democratic....

Plenty to do. Wether your republican or democrat you get people to register vote. We set up shop in the parking lot of a laundrymat to register people to vote in little village. I set up a project when i was a sophmore in High School called Race, History And You. The title really doesnt mean nothing now, when we first started it was to educate High School students in Chicago about the injustices that occured to asians, blacks, poor white, hispanics, etc and how to prevent anything like that from ever happening. And just making people aware. Now it transformed more into Students educating students about politics. Everything about Iraq, Who what when where and why it happened. How it could have been prevented. Decisions that could have been made. We discuss Bills and how they affect the community we live in. I organized shit when i was a senior in high school to go to city hall and protest the passing of the Gang Loitering act. We host (we meaning me and my law teacher) open discussion forums moderated by the teacher and I at high schools in chicago were students ask anything they want about anything concerning politics. Bush, Kerry, Laws, Iraq, etc. Usually starts off by discussing laws or past laws that have been passed that affect the community. I can go on and on. I stopped when i graduated high school. The last thing i did was register people to vote and set up picket lines to try and get Com Ed to change the fuel they use so people would start catching asthma around were the building is. You can do alot.

I was 15 when i was Illinois State Debate champ and was in Kansas to meet president Bush on a summit about teen suicide. If you think because your young u cant do shit the mentality will stick with you and shift as u get older.

Ok....If that stuff counts than this should....

I sat down to dinner with family members and provided them with reasons to vote Democratic Colomn this year...
Through reasoning, and debate, I convinced my republican family member to vote Kerry this year...
I registered both my mother and stepfather to vote...
I pledged to get 5 democratic voters ona signing treaty...and i did get 5 new democratic voters to either sign up or switch their final voting opinions...

    little things that helped....

you have to realize cire....your school in chicago probably has A LOT more money than the school in my town....as a matter of fact... My school's teachers have the smallest paycheck in the county, statistically...

School has no debate team....School has no politics club....School has no debate/politics anything....We have a student council......thats it....and it does nothing but organize the pep rallies/ work the school store.....Etc....

I am not limiting myself to my age Cire, your right, that is the worst mentality one can have...That is the whole sense in me leaving highschool and going to college...Haha, that way, with my working papers/ taking college courses....I will have a lot more credibility among the adult world...
I will be treated moreso as an equal despite my age...
I will also have more money than ANYONE coming out of highschool at the age of 18...
When people are graduating highschool I will have my associates degree, and at least one real estate property...

With money.....There is the ability to do what I wish to do politically...

umm, that is all depending on where you attend school

just because ur school system was responsible enough to help organize shit, does not mean that you are superior to him when it comes to his political efforts

i can solidly assert that my high school literally did nothing

i always wanted to be on a debate team, they had none

no politically related groups, except for stupid ass student council

i used to be in student council until i realized it was a joke

in high school i was student ambassador for the city of pleasantville, even got awards directly from the mayor and shit for my work

where i live, there is VERY LITTLE to do, VERY FUCKIN LITTLE

u live in chicago, of course there are more oppurtunities

every small oppurtunity i got in high school to do something, i DID IT

i've been to organized events and unorganized events as well (like the protests during the RNC) i even made a post about one event i went to and i got ridiculed for actually going to a politically themed event.

i'm also planning to do a www.freewayblogger.com style guerilla advertising for kerry in my area.

if you want to see pics of the last event i attended, check out pics here:

The Chicago Tribune ranked my High School the 3rd Worst High School in the City of Chicago. Its Farragut Career Academy. Latin Kings and GD's fight everyday. We had lockdowns because of gang fights, Meaning we werent allowed to leave the classroom the whole day untill the police checked every locker for weapons. i was just curious to know what everyone who posts about politics and what their views are have done has far as being involved with politics instead of just discussing em @ rapmusic.

LMFAO at the near exact statements me and nimrod made about our highschools.
but holy shit i almost forgot, Nim reminded me, actually.
I was a student ambassador, for New Jersey...

Went to Italy, England, France, and Greece...I had the opportunity to write an essay on my trip and get a college credit, however I passed it up...I still got 40 hours of community service for it...And documented the trip personally....

so I guess I have done something, after all.

there are instructions on the website. its easy
take cardboard, paint them over with white, and use a sharpie or heavy duty marker to write your messages in big letters, then hang them up where they would be seen by thousands.

but since we live in a blue state, we're preaching to the choir anyway...

    - getting the word out via messageboard is a good way albeit the easiest way

other stuff i'm planning to do a week before election

    - pass out flyers
    - post up flyers around my college
    - post up signs on highways
    - post huge a huge sign hanging off my house the day before election day
    - i talk to customers at my job (barnes and noble) and drop knowledge on them all the time. (especially people who buy conservative books)

And the only money for the school we got went directly to the soccer team. because they were state champs like 3 years in a row. The rest of the programs got jack shit. When we started the debate team and people finally got aware that we were the illest team in the city in one of the worst high schools in the city we got a private donation from a judge for like 5 dell computers. Thats how we did all our research. Getting a debate started is small. You just talk to the board of education and tell them to include the program at your school. And they cant say no. Why? because it cost no money. The Urban Debate Leagues that are everywere have sponsors and rich fucks who donate all sorts of money just for the printing of debate evidence. Debate teams cost nothing. Thats how we started.
