thts what i've been sayin on fb,i ain't proud of it but it wasn't our decision,it was uefa's.

tbh mate,we were in a dire situation so i am just happy tht we have got a chance to redeem ourselves, and thts exactly what we need to do.

dnt get it twisted,i hate the fact tht it came to this, but sheeit it has so i just gonna go with it.

we will get 2 wins 2 draws n 2 defeats and make it through to the k.o stage, mark my words.

I'm on a 7v7 (including goalie) soccer/football intramural team for my college. We're having a really difficult time deciding what formation to play. We have half the players we had in the team we played with last year, and we made it to the semi-finals (lost on PK's). I think we played a 3-2-1 last year. With the two midfielders having free roles to go anywhere on the forward part of the pitch.

Some specification, I'd say the field is probably 1/2 of an actual soccer field, so it's got some length. The width is probably about half as wide as an actual field. The goals are about 6 feet across and 5 feet high (or something along those lines, my memory is poor).

My idea for this year was that we played a 3-1-2. With me being the centreback, I'm 6'2 and lanky with a pretty good pass so I could spot people form the backfield making forward runs. Two versatile wing backs who are good with controlling the ball and dribbling would play on the sides of me. They also have pace. A holding midfielder would be placed in front of me. The top would be kind of a Messi/David Villa combo. One of them would stay up top, and the other would move freely as they'd like.

    ---------Goalkeeper---------
    ---------Centerback---------
    --RWB----------------LWB--
    ---------Holding Mid---------
    ---------------------------------
    ------Attack Mid--------------
    ---------------Forward--------
What do you guys think of that formation?
What would be the most important thing to keep in mind while playing for each position (tactical discipline, sticking rigidly to formation)?

    To add onto my post.....

Well, with my idea and the players I have available to me, the two wing-backs would be more offensive minded than regular defenders. It would almost be like playing a 1-3-1-1.

    ---------Goalkeeper---------
    ---------Centerback---------
    -RWB--Holding Mid--LWB-
    ---------------------------------
    ------Attack Mid--------------
    ---------------Forward--------

But, of course they are expected to track back. If the RWB were to make a forward run, let's say up to where a right mid would be, the centerback and the LWB would shift over to the right so that the formation would look like:

    ---------Goalkeeper---------
    --------CB---------CB--------
    ---------Holding Mid---------
    Right Mid----------------------
    --------------Attack Mid-------
    -------Forward----------------
The RWB and the Centerback would do the same in the other direction should the LWB make a run up. That's kind of the idea I had, and I realize it takes a lot more disciplined players to pull it off. Or you could suggest another one if you'd like.

    3 banks of 2. so a 2-2-2

And have you 3 most attackin players interchanging positions up, alot of the time.

Or you can go the Roma/Barca route and have no-one up front, but your positioning and movement has to be spot on, also some quick players and good finishers also helps.

tbh systems/formations in the short format of the game isnt needed tbh. As long as everyone knows what their role is and they as a man and as a team they press, have good positional sense and movement are good thats all you really need and a people who know how to finish. Knowing basketball defensive tactics will help also.
