I don't consider Canibus "THAT" lyrical... he's more intelligent because he focuses on vocabulary and kickin' science more than a lyrical aspect of writin'...

I consider Big Pun, Crooked I, Eminem, Copywrite, Vakill (though no flow), Pharoahe Monch, Sage Francis, and them to be some of the most "lyrical"

    EDITED:
oh yeah, Fabolous is CRAZY lyrical too but he's too generic and his content's wack 99% of the time and his delivery (not his flow - people don't understand the difference) is too monotonic....

sage is lightyears ahead of jay-z when it comes to the artistic side of music.

jay-z is a fucking cliche....the only thing he got going for him is his nonchalant flow...but other than that, he's a standard mc.

Sage can have the most artistic verses in the history of the damn world, he still has no clue what bar structure is or how to ride a beat...mahfucka just talks over the beat....he should stick to spoken word shit...because he has absolutly no rhythm or flow...

ONCE AGAIN, that's what I said... Sage is a BRILLIANT BRILLIANT writer and light-years ahead of Hov as a LYRICIST but to be a complete MC, you need flow, charisma (which Sage does have though), mic presence, hook writing skills, and more... and Hov is better at most but he loses by a MILE in the writing department...

I still LOVE HOV as an MC and is one of my favorites but I'm just statin' my point that Sage is a MUCH MUCH better writer.... that was my point... that's all

This article is garbage. A Healthy Distrust and Sage Francis himself are amazing. Like some of you have said he's a brilliant writer and his flow doesn't bother me at all. At his concerts he puts so much emotion into his songs and you can tell he spills his heart on every song. I can't understand why anyone wouldn't like him. On some of his songs yes he does talk over the beat but there's plenty where he rides it just fine. I'm not comparing him to Jay-Z at all either.
