Part 2 is a better story, more cinematic and orchestrally produced track... and one of the reasons I used to force people to admit that I Am wasn't garbage. Part 1 is like the perfect Nas track though... hard to decide because they're great for different reasons, but I gotta go with the original. I think they compliment each other more than contrast.

I feel that. Can't knock the originals grimmey vibe-classic nas.

But Im surprised that anyone said they like # 2 better(me to!)
    Mostly b/c of the production...

I preferred Pt.2... better production imo... I Am is also my favourite Nas album... only a couple of bad tracks on it. Illmatic is a classic, but sounds (production-wise) a bit dated now, but Illmatic is still Nas' best lyrical outing overall.

Part 1 all the way... it's grimier and Nas spits with more passion on it.

Part 2, Nas sounds lazy and the production gets watered down... fuck that.

People think more layers equal better production... I've always had a problem with that sentiment... it's like there can be no such thing as "overproduced" in hip hop to some fans... the beat is cool on pt. 2, but I don't think it's better... it just provides a different vibe... Nas sounds more impassioned and more comfortable on those sparse type beats anyway... most of his shitty beats have been the overproduced ones.
