Hey I need somebody with monitors to take a listen to see if my mixing is off.

This is just a rough test, but I recently purchased some new gear and would like to know what you all think about my new quality.

It's short, but I need brutal honesty.

ok it sounds very clean but it's not mixed properly. the beat doesn't bang enough/vocal levels are too high/not eq'd right to fit with the beat.

with that said. strictly talking quality/ the vocal sounds crystal clear (which is really good/main thing to look for in a setup)

plus if this is just a lil test mix its all good...quality sounds good...its just getting the vocal and the beat mixed at the proper volume which needs work.

What gear are you using? Vocals sound clean! I don't have monitors though.

My vocals on that take were recorded with this chain:

Studio Projects B3 (Shitty chinese mic) > Grace Designs M101 (best pro-sumer preamp ever) > Focusrite Saffire 6

I just picked up a Shure SM7b and my chain quality increased 300%
I'm looking for other mics as well, either American or German condensers

if you're gonna be doing home recording and dont need to pick up extra room noise
I have a "portable Vocal booth" by editor's keys on my stand, eliminated about 50% of ambient noise

as far as mixing though, i suck, and I could use soem EQ help
