    YAY!@ HISTORY channel

theyre the ones who did the documentary on hell and informed me the original hell had no devils, demons, or tortures. It was plain and boring. Literally boring. Thats the worst of it, Youd be bored there.

if its on during walking dead though it gets the axe

    Ah hell...

Well, you got different hells. The popular cultural idea of fire and brimstone and sulfur? A lot of that is Islamic in nature. The bible's new testament offered very little description of hell compared to the Quran. It did though involve lots of torture and fire. Thing is, it was also called "Hades" in many translations. The idea of Hades however is the Ancient Greek version of hell. Their version was pretty boring for most people, but it wasn't so much a hell as it was where all souls go when they died. Sometimes people were tortured for all eternity, but there was also a special section for distinguished heroes.

Sheol is the old testament version of Hell. It's essentially a void of nothingness. Which is most likely what you're referring to.

Hell and the lake of fire are in fact different places.

One is a kin to death row where the condemned await their trial, the other is post white throne judgement and u serve ur sentence

they were basically talking about the evolution of hell and how over the years it changed from a not so bad place, to the worst possible place imaginable where obsessive religious zealots maniacally tried to describe it to every last unbelievable detail

i didnt like it or not like it, i just sawr it

i learned that christianity slowly increased the scaryness of hell over time. Atleast its what the documentary said.

I'm out on Sunday nights usually. I watched Vikings at 10pm (same channel) after I got home, but skipped out on the replay of The Bible. I'll probably check it out online this week at some point just to give it a chance, because I watched like 30 seconds of it before tuning out.
