I feel like instrumentation wise there is no middle.
You have the bass that is taking up the low, and then the strings and guitar notes that come in all cover the hi frequency spectrum. And there is this big gap of mid frequencies that could be filled with piano's, rhodes, strings, lower guitar notes etc...

Drums and bass are definitly the good parts of the beat.
I personally would have given the snare a little more snap and some more definition of space, but that is a personal preference thing.

    Keep at it!

    ...or vocals...

It's an instrumental. I drop the mids out of all of my tracks with an req6 broadband stereo.

I mean, vocals are mainly in the midrange, so it makes some sense, but it doesn't mean it still won't have some emptiness to it.

All the beats I make are full and rich soundwise I believe. But can handle it very much to have a vocal right in the middle.

As I stated, it was a personal preference where I found there could have been done much more with the spectrum.
    To me it sounds empty.
    To each his own though.
