Okay I've been entered into this fundraiser event for lung cancer (involuntarily) so now I want to do the best I can.

It starts March 28th and is basically running up to the top of the second tallest building in Northern CA.

Here's the link so you can get the idea.

San Francisco Climb California 2009 - Home

Anyway, the records is 6 minutes 35 seconds. I don't think I'll even come close to that.

I can run long distance, but as you know stairs are a different beast.

It's open to the public and usually has close to thousands of people doing it.

I just want to be top 10 percent (which I think I can).

So give me tips on how to better my stair running/walking, bring down the time and effort. I'd hate to get to the top and have the news watching me gasping for air lol.

Lol, the thing is, the stairs are not open to the public as it is a restricted building. I just happened to be one of the two people to be able to use them for training if I so chose to.

I don't want to focus directly on stairs because you can only train so much on one thing, I was looking for other avenues on increasing my time other than just running the stairs day in and day out.

To answer your question Krim, if you ran up a few flights of stairs, that isn't shit lol. 52 flights is a different story (tallest stairwell in San Francisco).

Steve it's not marathon style. It's one at a time in 10 second increments.

wtf do you mean you can only train so much on one thing? you think you can only run a street for so long or something? what youre saying makes no sense dude. go find some other stairs find a stairmaster, train to beat your distance til its the same distance or further then train to be your time, shit is mad simple why do you want to make it complicated?
