alright, you got me on that, but the thread is who is the best. My point was that Nas has been coming the strongest.

Nas has a great name, mediocre songs and a loyal fanbase.

That pretty much sums it up.

No. Nas makes albums rather than individual songs, if that makes sense. Not that he doesn't have at least 20-30 classic tracks.

    2/3.

Nas has put out mediocre songs yes... but as a whole... dude has been putting out quality hip hop for years... and he never tries to give his fans the same thing, hes always giving us something new.

This distant relatives album proves that Nas still has a lot of excellent music in him... dude definitely needs to keep going. No ones fuckin with him right now.

I don't think mediocre songs is the word for it... I think it's not making an album full of radio friendly pop/club singles with beats by all the hottest producers of the year, in what results as ultimately a completely pointless compilation that the label puts together and ends up being half failed singles and never was tracks, and half played out shit that got old fast.

Cohesive albums with hidden gems, that take a little time to appreciate and get better with age, and work together as one shows more skill and talent overall because it shows discipline and working within a demanding context. Besides, a handful of Nas songs can outdo almost anybody else's best songs... something like Undying Love, for example.

    nas is hit and miss

but his hits make him one of the greatest of all time ... Illmatic, It Was Written, Stillmatic, Hip Hop Is Dead and Distant Relatives is all crazy... God's Son and Lost Tapes was solid... he had a couple average and weak joints, street's disciple was garbage... but so does everyone who been goin for that long

nas has illmatic, and it was written, as classc to me.........I really don't even care for nas, but recognize that he is one of the types that could put out great music if and when he motivated.........he has had awful beat selection for years, and he is the type that i can't listen to over a mediocre track...........

And I have lost most of my respect for him due to the nature of the contraversy he has been trying to provoke with his last couple albums..........lol at the ironic arguement, i ove vocab and grammar beefs........

Yeah man, there are definitely 4-5 songs I could do without, but that still leaves an album of over 20 fuckin' hot tracks!! Massively underrated album. It's also, IMO, when NaS' flow was the best it had been since IWW...
