^^ worldwide there's a significant argument that jushin liger is def near the top.

however, i think wrestling in the u.s.a. is more popular worldwide than wrestling in other countries is.

what i mean by that is: japanese or mexican wrestling probably isn't as popular worldwide as american wrestling is, even tho japanese wrestling is more than likely more popular in japan and mexican wrestling is more popular in mexico.

i'm a make a stand and say the rock is prolly the second most known wrestler in the world...

we need to compile a top ten list tho...

stone cold, macho man, jushin liger, john cena, andre the giant, ric flair, bret hart would all make it i think.

I just don't see why people think the Rock is well known worldwide. Especially as a wrestler.

not sure how well known Mysterio is in the eastern hemisphere. In the west though, he's a solid choice.

I think I would put Inoki and Muta ahead of Liger as the best-known Japanese wrestler worldwide.

tbh you'd be surprised how well-known japanese wrestlers are around the world. noah did a few shows in england last year i think, and they drew pretty well. and a lot of new japan guys especially have wrestled for companies around the world.

He got a lot of exposure from the Ali fight, and I'm pretty sure he's the best-known wrestler in the eastern hemisphere. And not that Liger isn't popular in Japan, but I think people overestimate his popularity over there because of his exposure over here. Japan has the same size obsession we have here, so juniors are looked at as being inherently inferior to heavyweights.

I could be wrong but I look at wwe as the most popular wrestling franchise in the world, therefore whoever they make popular I tend to believe would be popular worldwide. Maybe I'm being closed-minded tho.

In any case I think aside from hogan the rock is the most famous person to ever have a storied career in the wwe. Which is why I think he'd hold the #2 spot.

    I may be jaded tho.

Inoki's definitely popular in the east, but I just don't know how popular he is in the west except for with us internet fans. My thing with picking Liger above the rest has a lot to do with his image. Most fans probably couldn't tell you a ton about his career, but if you show them:

it'll probably at least spark some recognition.

Thing about the rock is that he's popular because of his charisma and mic skills. Those things actually don't translate all that well to a person who isn't fluent in english.

Stone Cold has similar international limitations. He's a character that really appeals to Americans.

Hulk is different because he was the classic hero with the blonde hair and mustache. It all translates worldwide.

A jushin liger mask would probably sell better than a tna shirt.

i'd stay either the rock or hogan...the rock has expanded his fanbase with his disney movies...and hogan with his movies, cameo appearances (rocky 3), plus his reality show hogan know best and also american gladiator
