do you think it is better to mic an acoustic guitar or to run it through a mixer? i'm talking about an acoustic that has an output on it for a guitar cable. which will give a truer sound?

Your talking about an electro-acoustic guitar. I have worked with them in the past and personally what i did... i plugged the guitar directly into my "line in" ....sounded fine ...only mic it if you have to.

If you wanna hear my results check "Please" www.mp3.com/absense

    It depends on the pickups.

If it's a normal guitar, condensor mics on the hole will work great.

If it has pickups, do a line in.

    no no no.. mic it....

place a large diaphragm condensor mic approximately 1-2 feet facing at the sound hole near the bridge....

place your choice of mic... (i use a neumann ksm 84) over the players shoulder, towards the fretboard of the guitar...

adjust the positions of the mic untill you've eliminated any phase issues

Or do both and determine which one you want. Or mix them.

    Or reamp the signal.
