Does anyone else notice certain tracks where you think you could slightly alter a tracks lyrics to make the rhyme scheme more complex or "better"? It doesnt have to be a huge change but it makes you wonder why the MC didnt write it that way to begin with. Heres to examples off the top of my head:

"Throwing passes from a barrel, shoulder pads, apparel
But the Q.B. don't stand for no quarterback
Every word is like a sawed-off blastcause y'all all soft
And I'm the black hearse that came to haul y'all ass in
It's for the hood by the corner store
Many try, many die, come at Nas if you want a war, get it bloody"

Why didnt Nas change "in" to "off" thus rhyming soft with off for an extra syllable rhyme? Like I said, its not a huge deal at all but its always bothered me lol.

Ugh my post got cut short, I had another example with Big L:

    "Worrrd up!
Aiyyo take it from me, the Big L
Cause I been through it all, youknowhatI'msayin?

Stay off them corners you'll stay out of trouble
And I gotta say rest in peace to all the casualties of the streets
    I'm outta here
    "

I feel like L should have added "all the casualties of the street struggle" to rhyme struggle to trouble. Not a big change at all but it always bothered me that he could have gotten another rhyme and just didnt. Anyone else notice this kinda stuff or am I just overthinking shit?

yeah, definitely think of this sometimes

mostly with really simple little changes that it seems surprising weren't in the song in the first place

why does it bother you, it's like you try to get points for corecting big name rappers rhymes, the game is to write a song like theirs not to ad 1 single word.

Rappers ain't perfect, the put out like 20 songs yearly and that's countless bars. Ross and Wayne might put out 50 songs a year

Rhyme schemes don't make you dope... flow and content do... there was a good load of wack, nerdy, non-rhythm-having, boring ass, no personality, corny content rappers who were running rampant in the underground from the mid '90s to the mid '00s...
