Original he was gonna drop Reasonable Doubt, and run the label. Albums being a 1 shot deal.
Then he was going to do a 2 volume set and quit, which was volume 1 & 2. Listen to the intro of volume 2 disk.
Then the obvious Black album retirement. There may be another time...

    The game does need Jay.

Everyone clamors for any tidbit they can find on Jay-Z.
They have since he said he was planning to retire.

The remix craze of TBL was one of the most pervasive trends Rap's ever seen.
The guy's a legend. People don't realize it now, but they will in another decade.

You may be looking at the "greatest rapper of all-time" though virtually no one is ready to admit it.

He does warrant GOAT consideration, but currently his Brooklyn-born predecessor Christopher Wallace holds the throne. In time...

    Think about it.

How many rappers retired and actually NEVER came back???

Master P - Da Last Don was supposed to be his last album, that cd was classic btw.
Too Short - Gettin It - Was supposed to be his last album, classic as well.

I can't think of more, but i'm sure there is.

And when Master P and Too Short came back from there "retirement" there albums have DECLINED.
P would of been alright if he stopped at "Da Last Don" but he put out like 5 straight wack albums in a row.

Too Short came wit "Can't Stay Away" which is a very solid CD. but his legacy is on the downhill as well, especially workin wit Lil Jon
