I wanna see some more top 10s. Drop 'em.
Co-sign this like a mother fucker. I spent all night listening back through all the Cunnin's shit.
My personal submission : Lupe Fiasco's Food & Liquor. Damn near every song on there is piff to me.
Pressure is like
and even the outro beat is like
premo is basic as fuck... we are talkin about dudes that are light years beyond him... premo just makes that same dumbass type beat that sounds like its from 1988... and adds a couple scratches
thats a different discussion... we are talkin dudes that can really work the boards
My personal favorite is Cannibal Ox - The Cold Vein (prod by El-P), but as far as mainstream appeal, no doubt 2001 is pretty unbeatable
sweet... to bad the beat is "not" mind blowing and gets no play
I was mad that Lupe never spit to the Intro/Outro beats.
The Pharcyde - Runnin' Instrumental (Produced By Jay Dee) - YouTube
Kno is ill. Cunninlynguists mad under rated.
u think that is better than tupac - how do u want it?
wow... i am at a loss for words
Dilla deserves mention in any production thread. As does Black Milk
Top 10 favorite, in no order:
Juicy J/DJ Paul
And while we're at it, can we all stop pretending that Swizz isn't average?
everything about that album is immaculate. i prefer the cool on all fronts tho
Lupe Fiasco- "Intruder Alert" - YouTube
the kendrick beat is good but nothing that impressive imo
Lupe's intro and outro beats even on his mixtapes were like
Lupe Fiasco - Lupe The Jedi // Free Mixtape @ DatPiff.com
We're talking about production here, not air play. To each their own. You obviously like west coast artists. I agree with Dre and Quick.
As for Premo, you say he was basic but check out the samples he dug up for Nas is Like and Represent
Nas Is Like
Nas is Like sample Robert Way - What Child Is This - YouTube
Lee Erwin - Thief of Baghdad - YouTube
Now that is sampling.
As opposed to Dr Dre for Nothing But A G Thang...Dude basically ripped off Leon Haywood and just put some drums behind it.
Leon Haywood - I Want to Do Something Freaky To You - YouTube
Where is the creativity???
Also Pete Rock and 9th Wonder should get some mention in this thread for their production.
Pete Rock and Kanye killed that beat they did together on Watch The Throne.
WORD?! I thought Food & Liquor shat on The Cool. I actually hated The Cool outside of a couple joints.
I prefer the cool on versatility and shit for sure, but Food and Liquor, that production was just
The production is better yes. Tupac and KC and Jo Jo made the beat. Production is average.
Separate names with a comma.
