Is our generation comparable to the baby boomers in terms of work ethic?

    Example:

I am never late. Nor do I leave early without merit.

But I also spend my time browsing RM while I simultaneously work.

I often see people around my age getting to work late, leaving early and simply not busting their ass like the old timers do.

People my age also don't have a strong integral or ethical backbone and often see the rules in shades of gray as oppose to black and white.

The old timers see things in black and white.

We just seem to lack discipline in our generation and I feel like we will continue to fall off and get more relaxed with each generation.

How do you guys see it?

I think each gerneration gets more lazy. Then again it depends on the person. I know lazy people with hard working parents and vice versa.

I'm just one man in this cold, hard world bro.

This is a thread about how our generation is measuring up to the work horses of the past that landed us in the position of world power.

Not sure what your posts are about tbh.

the boomers are all old and dying.

I work in capital planning with the government and expanding continuing care infrastructure is like this huge thing looming on the horizon. the facilities and operating them are insanely expensive too. dementia care is going to cripple our health care system moving forward.

wouldn't be surprised to see renewed support of legalizing euthanasia

Baby boomers like to hold themselves on a higher plane. Truth is things were just a lot different for them. If you were a hard worker you could take a manufacturing job or something of the like and be making great money in 5 or so years. Their jobs had great insurance benefits, retirement plans and sometimes pensions for anyone who was willing to work hard.

The opportunities are different now and the environment is different. Hard work alone doesn't take you as far because the job landscape is just so different.

    The incentives have changed

I don't think incentives alone are enough to change the production of the labor force.

For instance, there is no supporting evidence that solutions are developed faster when incentive is the variable.

    ^That's an actual fact.
