I agree with what you are saying. But the INDIVIDUAL will always be more talented than the group. You can argue that for ANYTHING in life.

"rappers aren't talented" "biggie is talented" - that's a true statement.
"basketball players are talented" "lebron james is of superior talent" - that's a true statement

You can't factually prove it, all of it is opinion.
This shouldn't even be a debate.

    Debaters usually debate facts.

    DISCUSSIONS usually involved opinions.

It's not stupid, and calling someone stupid is immature.

Prove rap/ hip hop is the most talented.
Save the name calling, and prove it.

making good hop hop is harder than people like to give credit, from a beat making or songwriting standpoint.

its as hard as any form of pop music.

yeh, if you've listened to rap, you should know how to rap, aint fucken hard

not saying you gonna be able to write and rap a great song

just cause someone been listening to rock music or classical or some other genre a while

don't mean they gonna be able to pick up a guitar and play it, or sit at a piano and play it, a violin, etc

a lot more training and technical ability is neccessary to be good at playing a musical instrument than pickin up a pad and a pen and writing poetry to a beat

this is a discussion on the arts, you can't prove points like a scientific law or mathematical equation. with that said, you can discuss things coherently, and build a rationale through generally accepted principles.

there's a difference between rapping about the planet Mars in a nasal voice over fruity loops and creating classic hiphop. just like there's a difference between metallicas st anger and bohemian rhapsody.

rapping does take technical skill, especially if you want to rap like jay-z, busta rhymes, big pun, big L, rakim, etc. it's the most lyrically complex by far - not to say that lyrics for other music are easy, but they're not on the same level.

for those bringing up instruments, keep in mind that the topic addresses hiphop as a genre. that includes not just rapping and making beats, but also dj'ing and freestyling. the wheels of steel ARE an instrument - mixing and scratching takes lots of talent, and not just anyone can pick it up. proper freestyling is complex lyrical improvisation, which is comparable to improv in jazz or rock. dj'ing has a strong emphasis on improvisation too.

to conclude, ill hiphop takes plenty of talent. not as much as jazz, classical or great rock, but it is respectable. it's also a genre with enormous variety and potential.
