meditation is a skill that is learned.
you get better at it with time.
you will never be able to meditate if first you dont relax and breathe. Any form of tension in your body whether its thoughts or muscles is the opposite of meditation and will hinder your attempts.
its like trying to throw a ball while someone holds your throwing arm trying to stop you... you think youll be able to throw? no. But youll fight and try and try....
eliminate the tension in your mind and body but letting go man. forget shit for a minute.
plus making meditation a habit that is done AT THE SAME time everyday is better than any amount of mediation done at random times all willy nilly
I only last 10 minutes n I want to sleep
thats cuz youre tired.
sleep if your tired.
meditate when youre not.
Depression also causes fatigue
fatigue and being sleepy are different
meditation can cure depression.

focus on the relaxing first, DO some point to point meditation to start, so when you close your eyes and start breathing deeply slowly go through your body and tell it to relax, start with face, work your way down right to left to yoru toes, and feel the body parts as you tell them to relax.... Once youve done that, focus on diaphragmatic breathing, once yu start diaphragmatic breathing THEN start the so hum.

best way to time your meditation is with a 108 bead mala.
you just rotate it through your hand like you would a rosary and you say the mantra for each bead, you know when to stop because there is a big bead at the end of the line you dont cross over. If you say the mantra over an inhale/exhale cycle like i taught you, and youre breathing relaxed and slowly the 108 beads should take ya about 20 mins...
you can meditate for how long you want though, the timer may just startle you at the end and getting startled is counter productive cuz its a shock to the system...
if you can do a timer that wont scare ya when it goes off go ahead

yeah because meditation changes your brain wave frequency..
but if you get sleepy, make an conscious effort to tell yourself that youre done meditating, and go lay down and sleep
if you keep falling asleep while meditating it becomes habit and your body will do it everytim
also, did you fall asleep sitting up? cuz thats pretty hard lol.
if youre laying down to meditate youre doing it wrong. Theres a reason you dont lay down to meditate and thats because of sleep.
you should be sitting, back straight, idealy not resting against something either. Most people get a sore back sitting on the ground and its cuz of bad posture... sitting in a regular chair that doesnt recline will work if you cant sit on the floor....
