... the doctor told me that even my therapists will see a therapist.

and that fucked me, if they're not in a stable mental state, how are they going to help me?

then the therapist's therapist even sees a therapist, fuck a shrink, give me a drink, and time to think.

Shrinks and priests probably have the most unbearable working conditions ever - in a way taking on other people's problems and in turn trying to make them better but sinking in their own probs themselves most of the time.

Guess I'm in a similar boat..

I think every one should be in therapy. It should be as prevalent as going to the gym.

What the guy above me said.

Doctors go to other doctors to get stitches.

Therapists go to other therapists for therapy.

The weight of dealing with other people's problems all day has a certain effect.

That's how my therapist explained it to me, at least.

Living without therapy, people can do that. Even when they have severe trauma or addictions, but usually the lives they lead aren't the best. If they are able to function tough, it's not really functioning. I've heard it described as, "Living life like hearing music without the midrange. You still get the bass, still get the treble, but nothing in between."

There are bad therapists out there, there are good therapists that are incompatible. It's worth sticking with it until you find the right one. I like how KOzS put it, it's like going to the gym. If I didn't go to the gym, I'd be physically weak, defenseless, insecure, and unappealing. If I didn't go to a therapist, I'd be mentally weak, defenseless, insecure, and neurotic.

    It's just a thing.

The-rapists are a modern invention to rub one's ego, if they have the money. Unless you have a real mental illness (schizophrenia or Aboulomania, Boanthropy .. etc etc etc) you're paying money for someone to discuss "stress" with. You could do that with your friends gratos.

^Even if they were neutral, they still don't have the training. You'll get conventional wisdom, old wives tales, and self-reported anecdotal hearsay.

    Wrong as always.

    No

You dense? Nu's been concerned about his drug use, if he goes and discusses any sort of issue with his friends, they'll tell him to do a line and forget about it. Problem solved, right? and look it cost nothing too! You need to stop talking like you know shit, throwing in obscure disorders for credibility.

These people, therapists, have been trained to understand and stay current with mental function research. What do you think they've been studying all this time? They know how to control a conversation, to focus on root issues and caution early warning signs. You cannot leave this very important counselling to a layman.

If you pay an electrician one-hundred dollars, ninety-nine goes to him knowing how what when where why to connect a wire, and one dollar goes to him for connecting a wire. Yeah, you can Youtube it, but there's no guarantee your house won't burn down. Do it right.
