I'm really looking forward to Rashad vs Shogun for the title after Rashad makes Rampage his bitch. I think Rashad will def be a heavy underdog, but I think he can pull it out if he lays and prays.

I do feel wrestlers have the best chance against Shogun, but I can't think of any from LHW I'd really bet on. Rashad's never really perfected that GSP style so I think there'd be plenty of time for Shogun to make something happen. Prime Tito Ortiz could've potentially been a nightmare for Shogun. Maybe even Randy.

With all the rumors of injuries shgoun had leading up to the machida fight, something tells me that it's best for him he was able to end it in the first round.

tito in his prime would get fucking destroyed by shogun, titos standup is average

rashads wrestling wont do shit to shogun either, shogun would have him tapping out from a leg lock instantly tbh

Tito's standup in his prime didn't exist.

    Bell ring, takedown.

Shogun's a guy that doesn't bother defending takedowns because he has faith in his ground game. That's admirable, but it can lose fights.

cant argue with that, mousasi vs king mo was a big example of that

mousasi got gassed tho before he could even realize that his strategy of relying on his ground game wasnt working

Even if Shogun tried to defend it, he couldnt stop Tito in his Primes' takedown(tm). Whats the weight difference between Anderson SIlva and Machida??

the whole mousasi argument still makes me laugh, i dont believe after the first few takedowns he was lettin king mo do anything, he was just taking him down at will at that point

that wasnt his strategy past the first takedown thats what retarded people believe lol after he got took down the first time and didnt do shit on his back that was gonna have any real effect on the fight he wasnt letting him take him down, he was just being tooken down. the first time is clear he didnt try to stop it because he just went in on mo's face.. after that though he never did that again, he was busy trying to stop what he couldnt. so let me rephrase, after the FIRST takedown.. mousasi wasnt letting mo do anything. and he wasnt gassed after 1 takedown. i dont get why people think mousasi takedown D is so unbelievable.. king mo is one of the BEST wrestlers in MMA right now if you dont think he can take mousasi down at will whether mousasi wanted him to or not your crazy.

I'm not really clear on where you stand, but my view is that Mousasi came into the fight not giving much of a shit about takedowns because his superior striking and skills off his back would win the fight for him at some point. I don't think you can make a case either way about Mousasi's takedown defense from that fight, because he realized he was against a world class wrestler and defense would be a waste of energy. At no point in the fight did he stop trying, but after I think round 3 he was reduced to just his heart. Was still trying the upkick and triangles out of instinct, but on the feet his combos were gone. Basically: he just thought experience and well roundedness would overcome at some point like it has for him in the past, but it didn't. Landed upkicks, but Mo didn't drop. Landed strikes, Mo didn't drop. Started sinking in a choke and other subs, but they didn't take. Just flat out lost to the typical wrestling strategy.

Any of that you disagree with?

no i agree with you, all im sayin is.. if mousasi was flat out ALLOWING himself to be taken down like he said his strategy was.. i think it changed after 1-2 takedowns when he realized he wasnt doing anything that would finish the fight on his back aside from an occasional upkick attempt in the rare instance mo was on both feet

delinquent likes to argue that his strategy basically the whole fight until round 3-4 when he completely gassed was just to be taken down.. i dont think after the first round he wanted to go down anymore because he realized the energy he was losing and that he wasnt coming any closer to a finish from his back

mousasi was gassed in round 2, thats when he was being taken down at will
