    I AM NOT A LYRICIST

    I am not a lyricist.
I script thesises with prosthesises because my hands are too soft.
Broke in the game of life because I gambled and lost
    I don’t hold guns, I hold
    Cameras filled with lead
    Capturing the pictures in the
    Captions that I’ve said.
It is not the likelihood of me to like the hood
I can’t glorify the hood and claim to hold high the good.
I’ve lived eatin’ the piece of the pie on the east side
To livin’ in my ride on the street side
These eyes have seen lies so much,
I wouldn’t recognize truth if I saw it.
Streets of Los Angeles shovel these lies and I bought it
Like that wack CD with tracks from that random underground act
Who recorded on his laptop over downloaded tracks
But now, I can’t tell the difference between these underground rap spitters
Sounding like frustrated poets that act bitter
Everything sounds like a rap verse, even this last verse
That’s why when I rap I try to make ‘em dance first
If I wanted you to think I’d speak slowly, write it down
Put it in a book and make sure that book get around.
Otherwise, the Soultan will leave you lost and hopin’
Dancin’ to a song like “damn, this beat is thought provokin’!”
So cats ask me, why do I spit commercial?
Damn, dawg! A couple of bling blings ain’t gon’ hurt you.
Get off my back. What do you want? Post graduate raps?
Speak on the history of tort law over a timbaland track?
Battle lyricists on the finer points of Conflict Theorists?
Speak of the history of the Egyptian Pyramids?
No, my brother. You gotta buy the book.
When I hear a tight beat, First thing I write is the hook.
Yes, I’m black, I’mma be black witcha
Yes, I’m a Christian, I’mma read that scripture
Yes, I’m edumacated, passed ‘em all without fail.
That’s why I’m tryna pay back loans off of these rap sales.

Finally the great soultan stops by to share a gem with the realm.

"If I wanted you to think I’d speak slowly, write it down
Put it in a book and make sure that book get around"

That was my favorite part, if just only we can start gettin people to even look at a damn book though, you know?

Our people have looked at books since the dawn of civilization and it doesn't stop. It's a myth we don't read. We've been shoulder deep in Korans and Bibles, and my old words give scriptures a revival...

    Haaaaa *dances*

I liked that - it was catchy...

"Damn, dawg! A couple of bling blings ain’t gon’ hurt you.
Get off my back. What do you want? Post graduate raps?"

I wonder if I would still think this was funny if I couldn't relate at all...
