... that's when your addictions come full frontal.

they'll attack you in public, and leave you ridiculed, shaking like you're michael j fox.

how does one stop associating, say, smoking with driving, or smoking with waiting for a bus, etc.

better yet, how do i stop associating good fucking music with not being sober at all (coke, weed, etc.)

i find when i try to quit, quitting the actual drug of choice is quite easy, but the associated things are harder.

i can't just quit listening to j dilla or pete rock because i enjoy it more when i'm high, that shit's unfair, man.

fuck off. either you're determined to quit or you're not. figure it out.

there's no guaranteed way of that shit working, and nobody else's way of quitting will be similar to yours. the only similarity will be do you want to or not? if your mind isn't into it, you won't. so fuck off and spark up you weak-willed cunt

you are talking about "triggers" - they can be anything, a place/smell/person/object etc etc

"Once sober, the brain needs time to recover and rebuild connections that have changed while addicted. During this time, drug cravings can be intense. You can support your continued sobriety by making a conscious effort to avoid people, places, and situations that trigger the urge to use"

    good luck Nu

well, the reason you associate those things with drugs is because they always go together. So just break the connection. Soon the associations with those activities will be rewritten. Without drugs.

    BAM! solved everything

Everyone I know who has bought an ecigarette hasn't touched a real one since. Try that to start, but from the studies I have read quitting smoking is more effective if you just go cold turkey. I keep one around because I still crave cigs when I drink even 5 years after I stopped.

so whats the problem then? you want to quit, but there is too many things in your life that remind you to do drugs? quit those activities. Get new activities. New hobbies, get out of your comfort zone and try something new that you normally wouldnt do. Change something up man. Thats what you have to do. When you meet resistance change.
    So change something.

Over time. Getting used to doing all those things without the accompanying stimuli.

If you can't handle it on your own then exchange it with something else.
