...sociopaths who seem to "find god"?
Christ would be considered sociopath at this time.
For example ...
New born christians straight out of zee pen..
Wife beaters who think it'll be a way to get their family back..
It makes gullible people believe their "change" is real.
Because who would lie about being Christian? Christians don't lie.
Sociopaths aren't completely without guilt and remorse.
It's typically repressed and things like religion can act as an absolvent of sorts.
Don't forget drug addicts. I'm pretty sure they've found God once or twice on various "trips" here and there.
Going to jail leads a lot of people to Christ.....but that's obvious....jail is a dark, unpleasant place and being able to grab a hold of anything can help.
That being said
<---- sociopath....not religious
In my experience, it's not only (even if largely) sociopaths who find God, but the weak/broken/lost.
Too many naive Nellys out there to count.
That and skillful manipulation.
You're absolutelly right.
Think people have found a lot more than "god" on various drugs. Those must be whimsical adventures, tho..
Often times when people are up for parole they'll somehow always mention how changed they are due to finding "god" ~ which by now is played out.
True. Scary when the bible is the last resort to these labile individuals.
so if you're strong, stable and established you don't need god?
fuck outta here with such a shit bias.
Oh shut up.
We were speaking on the typical types who find God.
why is it scary? c'mon, gal.
does it scare you that someone consoles themselves with a book that preaches forgiveness?
what would you rather prefer? someone who ends up relying on a fucking semi automatic?
if you fear a book and those who read it, you need to get out more. it isn't mein kamph.
so you guys hate religion so much that even if someone reforms from murderous ways you despise it?
so the typical types for atheists are the strong and established?
yeah, fuck off.
Nu, why U gotta be like that??
Such a pain in the ass, my friend.
This isn't/wasn't a religious debate, had nothing to do with Theism vs Atheism. Was just a simple observance based on the norm. There are always exceptions...this is a generalization.
Go pluck some grapes or something.
Do you guys think this reflects poorly on religion? I don't think it does, but I want to know if the opinion here is that it does?
Theres usually a noticable difference in those that actually do find God
and those that are just saying it.
no fruit no change.
I'm failing to see how once a vicious killer with no conscience whatsoever is able to honestly make such a transformation.
I'm failing to believe it due to ulterior motives behind that.
For example a few years ago, there's been a case of a serial killer in my country who after killing a few women found "forgiveness in one of those holy books". He managed to get paroled due to being "a whole new person, and a newly religious one", who then went on to kill another woman not even a month upon his release and tried killing her husband and kids as well but luckily failed.
If any kind of true change does occur, it's percentage is small. The rest is manipulation at it's finest.
Oh, and btw; Hitler should have honestly been beaten to death with Mein Kampf.
It's not hating and/or despising religion, Nu. It's not trusting sociopaths clinging to it.
What Gal said.
