Well to get Thrift Shop played as much as it was played this past year on the radio he enlisted the help of Warner Music Group. His album probably wouldn't have taken off like it did if he wasn't willing to compromise a little bit.

    Interesting didn't know that.

It was you who put me on wings back in 2010 and I fell in love. He had a solid following then but he kept it real...

3 years later and I cringe everytime I hear his voice.. Now from the album ten thousand hours might get a spin..

    it's really a shame..

    I recommend shock value.

Take Macklemore's gay agenda a little further and do a music video of gay guys kissing each other and don't tell me that won't get responses.

Shock value. People are making careers out of this. Do something that is insulting to a big percent of the people (these will give you exposure) & that the remaining percent loves (this will be your profit).

I'm pretty sure he meant 250 straight days of shows every year for 10 years.

And that is not any sort of new business model for making a living in music...I would view it as the best one really, because in an age where the art of performance has dwindled, a good show can stand out and create a loyal following that will be there for the whole ride and after....The fame it might earn isn't always the same as a top 10 hit, or a platinum album, but the memory lasts....look at Grateful Dead, they never had a platinum album I am pretty sure, but they were at it every day on the road....I think they will have a longer legacy than most chart toppers....

new artists? the best thing to do is make good use of social media... facebook twitter, message boards... talk to as many people as u can and make connections, alos, listen to A LOT of rap, not just new rap. rap from the 1980s, 1990s, 2000s AND today. you'll make much better music if youre influenced by every kind of rap.

also, be good at lots of different shit. make your own beats and shoot your own videos... that way you'll be able to brand yourself and not get lost in the crowd.
