u get a pre in the 1820 M as well conflict, and it has better converters....
go for the 1820M because it is a soundcard AND a pre
only thing left for you to buy is a mic, mic stand, and cables!

    dont do it!

    get the 1212m and a yamaha mg10/2

you can upgarde the pre later, the soundcard is what counts! 1212m! better converters = better sound...and its cheaper than the 1820

    200 dollars cheaper...

200 bucks for the emu-1212m and 100 bucks for the yamaha mg10/2

that leaves you a 100 bucks to buy a mic...i suggest seinhesier e835 or the studio projects b-1

wtf just go for the damn1820 so you can save money, and save purchasing time; it includes both soundcard and pre, as has been stated already..

im in the same situation, i dont want to spend too much for the M, but i want a pre and soundcard, so im gettin the solid 1820..

I'm selling a "Delta 44 Soundcard" ($100), and Also a "Yamaha MG 10/2 Mixer" ($65).... Both very much so mint condition (no scratches, dents, any ware) - both come with papers and in box [delta also comes with the origional softwares].
