a game doesn't have to be a million hours long to be fun as hell

gow and dead rising being textbook examples

Seems everything nowadays either has to be over 15hrs long or have multiplayer online in order to be accepted or "worth the purchase".
I remember buying $60 SNES games that lasted 3hrs or less and loved every second of it for months LOL

and most of the time 60 hour games are really 15 hours games with 45 hours of lvl'ing up, bullshit running around doing nothing, all kinds of tedious crap i've grown really bored with doing.

my favorite games of all time were games that were around 10-18 hours, not including rpgs. give me a silent hill, resident evil, god of war or dead rising over doing the same damn thing for 50 hours in an rpg i don't even like. it takes a good story nowadays for me to put up with it.

No kidding.... I used to level up in rpgs even though I was bored of doing it & still early in the game just so I could breeze through easily to watch the story unfold & that was 9 years ago... I'd never waste time doing that crap now.

This is the reason I almost always played RPGs with game sharks or other cheating devices - even the ones I liked. I love to watch the stories unfold, but I have better things to do than kill the same giant insects repeatedly for the sole purpose of leveling up.

fuck me too many. the second and every other time through FFX i played with a gameshark, maxed out stats. leveling up at a certain point didn't feel rewarding anymore. i just wanted to experience the story at a good pace. call it cheating, meh, i just lost the patience after the first time.

Dead Rising is that good? My uncle has it but we've never picked it up to play for some odd reason.
