Why do you keep using examples like that? The 13 colonies is not an equivalent case at all. If I was arguing like D-lor, I'd take a few shots at your intelligence and claim to be the only intelligent person in the world while writing in my diary that I keep repeating myself but no one understands.

The Colonies can break away from British rule and no longer be "British". Catholics can not break away from Christianity and continue to be Christian.

Edit: I wrote this ages ago before lizphair replied. Should've refreshed before posting but whatever.

Ok. Should be common sense but why not.

Yes it's dynamic but not to an extent where Catholicism can suddenly denounce Christ. Catholics could change a lot of doctrine, but no way they could stop believing in Christ. That should be obvious. And refer to lizphair's discussion of the parts/whole issue.

    Dlor, the second was bananas.

    Not in a mean way:
I don't see this as a "weakness" per se, but your cadence and flow makes a choke for you look worse than the average rapper. Someone like Diz coulda got away w/ it.. stumbled for a few secs and said "dick" or whatever rhymed at the time.

You still got the W imo.

You just bodied yourself. The CHRISTIANS still believe in the same GOD as JUDAISM but chose to follow CHRIST as the son of God. In all reality that's about as big of a change as Catholicism (in the way my family practices) who chooses to revere the Virgin Mary where Christianity (as a whole) does not hold her in as sacred of a light.

That's not a major doctrine change in either case, if you want to argue the extremity of what a schism would require. Which in this case is what happened between JEWISH CHRISTIANS when they chose to leave JUDAISM.

This is really simple, I think you're just not looking at it in the right way tbf. D-Lor is not implying that it is likely that a schism will happen between Catholics and Christians, he is using an extremity to apply a witty scenario in a set of bars that use a religious angle. Look at it this way and realize that you're not looking at it the right way.

I'm done replying, I think I've posted too much for something far too simple.

why are you guys posting walls of text arguing about schism?

a disagreement between 2 people of the same grouping is just a disagreement. a schism is a division of a grouping BASED ON A DISAGREEMENT. end of story. whats the fucking context even?
