Curious to see how many people actually read poetry besides me.
Stephen Dunn, Lawrence Raab, Billy Collins, David Kirby, Denise Duhamel, Li-Young Lee, Barbara Hamby, Tony Hoagland and Charles Simic among others, but those are the ones I turn to more often then others when I wanna read some poetry. If you're one of the few who're serious about poetry here, and there are a few, there's daily writing exercises and interesting literary articles at double-ux3 incendiary lit dot com. Check it out and leave some comments, trying to get the word out a little bit so the contests don't end up being lame. haha, but hey, $25 cash prize with no entry fee for the first month's prize. Writers like money right?
fuck the famous writers, I read poetry of the people.
These are some of my interesting poets.
edgar allen poe.
Dylan Thomas--critics say he was a sell out, a hack, and a pyrotechnicist (I swear to christ fuckin English poetry critics are harsh), but I just think the motherfucker got game.
Yeats--"what rough beast..." that line rings out in my head all day long
James Joyce--better with prose, but the dirty mick still gets down.
It's nice to see that people still read poetry.
fuck...Joyce is a pain in my ass.
