both come with an occasional hotbeat, but they are mostly both wack and unlistenable

  3. El-P has done much more for hip-hop then Eminem. (Funcrusher Plus) Company Flow sold 30,000 copys without being signed to a label, and it changed hip-hop the way it was made. El-P's new disc isn't that great, but "Fantastic Damage" is a classic to me. I can't stand Eminem...he makes me want to dry heave.

lmao @ el-p doing more for hiphop than eminem. c'mon man.

granted, el-p has done a lot for the underground...and gave it exposure.

but eminem has had so much more influence on hiphop, whether you might think it was good influence or not...he still has a much bigger impact on it than el-p (will ever have).

and fantastic damage is the worst underground album i have ever bought IMO. as much as i love abstract underground shit (i listen to anticon), i just couldn't get into FD. there were 3 or 4 tracks that were dope on it.

    edit:

but to comment on the topic of the thread...this is yet another lame comparison. i like both of them on different occasions. they're too different to compare.

fantastic damage rules and el-p is not unlistenable yeah i know its not the most accesible, but so does is radiohead's work, its just complex and needs listens and listens and grows on you and then is a simply beauty

    what is it then?

i'm talking about albums like "bottle of humans", "selling live water", "personal journals", "taste of rain", "paint by number songs"...etc.

    they're all underground..and abstract.

of course, then you have shit like "clouddead"...which is really out there...and can't even be considered hiphop.

yo el-p has infinitely more interesting shit going on his beats. have you ever noticed his drum programmiN? how about his synth/sample manipulation. his arrangement. his mixing.

how about the fact that every eminem beat sounds the same because they're all in like the same two keys and he has limited melodic vocabulary.

get over this eminem crap...he should stick to fixing his rhymes up better so that he's on some god status shit with this craft.
