Thanks for saving me the trouble of typing this.

I thought it was funny how Rhyno decided to turn them down.

McMahon lackey: Want to be part of the new ECW?

Rhyno: Is there going to be a dress code?

McMahon lackey: Of course. Would it be ICW...

Person in background: I think it's ECW...

McMahon lackey: Right. Would it be BCW without presentable looking body builders?

    Rhyno: I'll pass.

Exactly. Not to mention that ECW made stars out of the guys who would put their opponent over. Jerry Lynn became the new F'N Show after LOSING to Rob Van Dam. It wasn't about going out and having a five minute no offense match and destroying the guy, it was about taking whatever guy you had and make the best match you could.

Tommy Dreamer is another example of a guy who continued to increase in popularity despite losing to Raven over and over again for over two years.

WWE writers will never be able to duplicate that. Today they want to dictate who the fans should boo and cheer. When they want someone to be booed, they just have them come out and badmouth the hometown crowd or say they hate America. And enough with these actors pretending to be fans already.

The thing I liked about classic ECW was there were times when you really couldn't tell what was staged and what wasn't. There was genuine emotion. There wasn't this gay-ass logic like "Hey, guys like hot women so let's have a bad guy who comes out and interrupts his girlfriend doing a striptease every week". When ECW tried to appeal the hip-hop demographic, they brought in New Jack, a guy who legitimately looked like he might fuck you up. They didn't give him a rap gimmick and a title belt with a spinning piece on it and have him talk ebonics. They just put a TV camera on him and let him express himself.

Just about any wrestling show is guaranteed quite a few viewers. Look at the TNA rating, that's mostly people that will watch any form of wrestling that's on TV. ECW still has quite a bit of hype around it, although people are seeing the product and slowly tuning out. There should be enough loyal WWE watching fans to keep the show around if they really wanted to, but eventually it's going to be in the same boat as shows like Sunday Night Heat.

    Indeed.

I wish they'd call the new brand at least WWECW or something.

they should do a new ecw vs the old ecw

    with the new ecw winning

but they could do it in a way where it doesnt make the old stars look bad

They've done that every week, minus the "without making them look bad" part.
