cuz i think the reds got raped
reds needed a quailty starter they got it their isnt much of a market for sluggers.
Willy mos a good hitter if he get enough abs hed prolly hit low 30 in hrs
hes not a quality starter, hes a reliable one. u kno what ya gettin
but quality isnt it.
4.51 career era
career .500 record... last year he went somethin like 14-9, but u gotta remember that he gets no K's, walks alot, and he had the biggest scoring team behind him last year, thus the 14 wins (by run support)
hes horrible, he'll be 8-15 in cincinatti
pena is no star either tho
pretty even deal to me
plus arroyo cant get lefties out
even trade..wily mo will be a starter next year when they let go nixon
agreed, it seemed pretty even to me too
willy mo has alot more upside than arroyo.
but the fact is a quailty starter (arryo is a quailty starter you know he'll give you innings and post some wins) is harder to find than a 30 hr guy.
Arroyo's could proably be a decent third starter if he can put it all togegather. Problem with him is he's a fly ball pitcher and that could bring a ton of problems.
This was a good deal for Boston but i can see why cinnci made this deal.
Pena in a full-season = more K's than Dunn.
he will have big run support in Cincinnati...they were the top offensive team in the NL.. He is an upgrade for the Reds in the rotation..After Harang and Claussen they got jack shit pretty much..the reds just need a pitcher who can give up under 10 runs
But this sucks for Pena, he was finally going to get out of platooning but now he will be platooning with Nixon
but this deal is good for the Reds, Pena is expendable especially with the emergence of Encarnacion and Wise is having a decent spring training..
those two coulda combined to strike out nearly 400 times this season
Wily Mo= Career .248 with a .303 obp... and strikes out tons
you realize people can get better especially when your 24 like wily mo pena...dude is so young chill lol..
you dont think david ortiz and manny rameriz wont help him out? come on
especially with the hispanic flava they got goin on on the red sox.. theyre gonna love this guy.
and ABS.. he wont be platooning NEXT year... this year will be a year for the organization to get his pitch selection in tact
ya take a latin slugger and make him selective..
he will be platooning this year..i dont care about next year...
point is the Reds got what they needed, a pitcher and as sad as it is..he has the potential to be their ace...i think the reds were more willing to part with Pena then Kearns..i dont think they will really miss Pena though, they traded Guillen before and the offense didn't miss a beat...I think the loss of Casey is the bigger loss
