Today they held their first press conference in response to the Sandy Hook school shooting. They blamed video games, movies, music videos, and the media and even mentioned about the President being shot. (yikes). Their solution to mass shootings is arming schools with gun carrying guards.

Do you agree with this? And if you do, do you think battle rap can be thrown in the mix as one of the causes in glorifying guns and promoting murder?

There have been two school shootings that were both stopped by armed civilians, total deaths...5!!!
then look at what happens when no one around has a gun...13 dead at columbine, 32 dead at virginia tech, 26 dead at sandy hook...

guns aren't the issues, not being able to protect yourself is..

(oh and fuck all the non american's thinking they can speak on america's gun control)

I want to edit:(again for misunderstanding)

I agree with allowing teachers and faculty to conceal carry, i do not agree with media/video games/music being the issue. I do see how it could possibly numb people that see things so often where its not as big of a deal, sort of like porn could change how you view sexuality etc(like back when your 11 you can look at a magazine with a girl thats busty and get aroused, now after the shit ive seen/been through, my shit won't flinch if shes not a dirty slut) but on another level, i don't think that's the main issue.

America is a violent country, always has been and always will be.
I think one of the issues in America is the fact its so diverse.
You have people all different ethic backgrounds, race, religious views, political views etc etc...and you're trying to get these people to all respect and understand one another, when most can't do this..

the shooting is a great example, look how people are reacting, not taking any logic into their gun control thoughts, only thinking with their emotions.
blaming the NRA for this, not the kid, not the mom, no the mental health issues in America, just the NRA, which do not buy him the gun, nor did they tell him to go shoot up a school.

There's over 100,000,000 gun owners in America, the percentage of killers with firearms are almost nil compared to the amount of people that own them.

IF, this nation really gave a flying fuck about its actual civilians, dont you think they would BAN things like, tobacco?

But the money and power that go along with it are too much, disarming civilians their rights to own semi automatic rifles only allows our govt. to get stronger and have more power over us...until we end up like the Soviet Union in 1929, Germany in 1938 and millions of lives are at risk, all because people can't comprehend that guns do more then just kill, they protect.

Like Wayne said, it takes a good armed guy to get rid of a bad armed guy, im not risking 15 mins to wait for the good armed guys to arrive...

I honestly think no "one side" is entirely right or entirely to blame. I think it's going to take a combination of "sides" solutions to best prevent senseless tragedies from ever happening again.

I said this same shit...instead of spending tax money on retarded things like research on how many times a day someone hiccups or surveys on how happy pet owners are, we need to vamp security where there is a large amount of people. If someone as worthless as 2chainz has this kind of security, theres no excuse why kids shouldnt either

The issue is mental health. Nothing more to it, of course certain things can factor in but at the end of the day it all comes down to mental health.

The fact that the president of the NRA needs to shift attention off Guns and onto even more ridiculous topics of blame says a lot about the NRA.

Needs a new president IMO, someone like that isn't fit to be in charge. He's setting a terrible example.

Do I think America needs more Gun Control? No not really.

But when the president of the NRA can't argue in favor of Gun Control without forming petty arguments that put the blame onto things like Videogames and movies, I have to question myself.

I don't follow this crap, I can't really form a proper argument in favor of lax gun control. I leave that up to the professionals, you know like the president of the NRA. Yet he's failing to do that.

So either there are no reasonable arguments in favor of Lax gun control, or this guy is a fucking idiot and has no place speaking on behalf of the NRA.

DNA, Get him the fuck outta here.

Also, I like how people say all this shit about "We need guns to protect ourselves from the Government" yet people are all in favor of putting armed officials in every school.

Because that makes its so much easier for us to protect ourselves right?

Anyone who doesn't see the flaw in that argument shouldn't be allowed to own guns.

Go look up the number of school shootings to take place, if people honestly think sinking money into having an armed official at every school is a good idea I'm fucking speechless.

Fucking Fear Mongers stop being such irrational pussies.

My thoughts aren't to put policemen at every school, but instead allow teachers/faculty to carry as long as they get proper training to do so and use ammo that reduces ricochets..

again like one school shooting i mentioned in my post, a vice principal ran to his car got his gun and stopped the 16 yr old killer ...total deaths..2(minus his mom that he killed at home)

TBH I think a Principal keeping a gun in their car on school grounds is fucking retarded.

I broke into teachers cars on school grounds on more than one occasion in High School, I'm sure other people here have done the same or know people who have.

Ya there can be benefits to people being able to carry.

And since all these arguments tend to revolve around being irrational(seriously, go look up school shootings in America from 2010-2012, and try telling me people have something to fear) I could make an irrational argument as well, what about a teacher who snaps?

It could happen, its not likely but it could happen(just like school shootings in general) now we have some crazy teacher on school grounds, with a gun.

Gun Control should be lax, this whole "Lets arm people in schools" argument is fucking retarded and its nothing more than people using fear to try and get what they want.

There are not nearly enough school shootings to justify teachers/principals needing to carry weapons.

I just think that's horribly inefficient. I think the cases you mentioned are more lucky than anything else. I mean in the time it takes to go get the one gun most of the damage could be already done, and in a populated environment like that it's far more likely that more innocent people get caught in the crosshairs. Besides, when the cops show up how do they decipher who the innocent (vigilante) shooters were and who the criminal shooters were?

I honestly think your "data" proves the exception to the rule rather than the rule itself. It may have helped in those 1-2 scenarios but it's highly unlikely to translate to others.

I think they should have the right to , like everyone else...

say a teacher does snap, theres another teach and another and a principal there with a gun to stop him or her..

fact is anyone can snap at any given moment.
fact , cops can't protect you in these moments.
fact, it is your right and responsibility to be able to protect your self

so by that, i think as a teacher or faculty member, you should be able to conceal carry..
maybe nothing will happen, but if it does, you do have the chance to protect your self and the ones around you...having nothing, well , we've seen how those ended..

I'll leave something for people to watch, an intelligent victims perspective on gun control..its old its female but its actually enlightening and very relevant.

I'd probably be more worried if kindergarten teachers have guns. Not only do we forcibly have to trust our kids with them, but if the teacher leaves it in a desk, the kids get into everything. I forsee that causing more deaths than preventing them.

Most of these shootings I see people having guns being worse, unless you pinpoint who has the gun at the right moment, which is nearly impossible to choreograph once the shit hits the fan.

    Here's my stance on guns.

In an ideal world no one would have them, and, therefore, no one would need them.
In a slightly less ideal world, the only armed people would be in service military.

Unfortunately, our world is very, very far from ideal and lots of people who don't need guns have them and have intentions to use them for hurting or killing other people. Because of this, along with the fact that I can't foresee the world becoming ideal, we are safer with people who have guns, have experience with them, and wish to use them for nothing other than defending the innocent. There is an absolutely zero percent chance of unregistered guns being removed from the system, so the only feasible option to keep them from being used to kill innocent people is to have these pieces of shit who want to go shoot up public places is to assure them that they will be killed before they can do any harm.

The world is too far gone in it's direction concerning gun violence to bring it back, so the only thing left is fear. If one of these people, before going out to shoot a school, or a movie theater, or a mall, realizes that there are armed citizens who will kill them before they do any damage they'll be far less likely to follow through.

Again, in a perfect world no one would have guns, but it's not very useful sitting around fantasizing about an ideal situation.

I feel that the whole "guns are for protection" argument is a faulty one based on a faulty premise. The whole need for guns is because other people have guns. It's a security dilemma. We feel more insecure because others are more secure. So we go out and get guns to be more secure and others are feeling less secure because we have guns, so they get guns, then we get better guns etc.

If the criminals didn't have guns, we likely wouldn't have the same need for guns, and if we didn't have guns, then other people wouldn't be as threatened by us having guns and also wouldn't need guns. I think the entire pro-gun argument is based on a faulty premise and therefore isn't worth more than a minute of my time considering.

well these instances, they had to go to their car...if you were allowed to conceal carry it wouldn't be an issue..

again people act like spotting the shooter is like playing "where's waldo" ...if when police show up, you as a civilian drop your weapon raise your hands and explain the situation..

The one shooting where two armed civilians, and a marine stopped the shooter, they held him their til police arrived...not that difficult..

again, people think that you can do something without being armed, you can run thats it, you can't protect yourself, you're helpless....a sitting duck..

now you may be ok with that, and goodluck to you, but my gun stays with me 24/7 and IF a tragedy happens and i end up dead anyway etc, at least i had the chance to actually protect myself....nothings worse then feeling helpless.

I think that both sides live in ideals. I think that the "nobody should have guns" argument is very idealistic because it's impossible to rid the world of guns because the bad people won't listen and voluntarily get rid of their guns.

I think the other side (that we should all have guns) is idealistic as well because how do we decide who is fit to have guns and who isn't? How do we pick and choose? People with or without mental illnesses commit these acts, and all people with various mental ailments are not the same. There isn't a realistic easy criteria for deciding.

Stopped watching that video after the "1 bullet or 100 it doesn't matter" bull shit.

Serioulsy, anyone who fails to see how stupid that arugment is, again should not be allowed to own guns.

If you can load both guns at the same speed, and one gun fires 100 bullets while the other 10 bullets, which one does more damage? Exactly, which one can you spray with? Exactly.

Fuck, I'm not even for gun control but every time I see some fucking idiot arguing in favor of it with arguments like that I want to switch sides.

Anyway I think people should have the right to send their kids to school without worrying about some idiot teacher misplacing his weapon. Granted most people with a carry permit are responsible, the principal gun in his car story is an example of not everyone being responsible.

Theres been about 150-200 deaths in school shootings in the last 20 years, you honestly think teachers need to be armed on school grounds?
