now that we have this OT forum, i dont havto pick and choose my OT threads anymore. the trolls will have a whole lot of threads to be fags in, so we might actually get some legit discussion going.

so on to business? we got some traders lurking around?

earnings time gentlemen. CSCO reports AH today. im ducking that rollercoaster monday morning.

silver and gold movement preds? gold is post 14, im targeting 16 by end of Q1.

shaky on silver. in for 200oz if it limits 25$

    whats on deck?

and the first troll post is in.. undoubtedly something about how bald i am and/or my parents and/or bullions/hyo faggotry.

on second thought, they would shy away from bullion talk, because that would be on-topic and not troll-y enough.. :funny:

you see, what happens when you dedicate a subforum to OT posts is the same thing that happened to OT itself.. tons of threads with a lot of posters not afraid to be off-topic so the unfunny trolls die a horrible death from the ignore list and general disregard for their bullshit while the community builds itself from individual conversations. its a great day for RM.

see, the point of an OT forum is not to allow trolls to go apeshit.. its to build community based on things that arent represented in the general forum we all joined...

if the mods do their jobs, all the "omg hi stock i wanna suck your dick, love wonka and drew" threads will be gone on sight.. and in their place will be stimulating discussions and debates on a myriad of topics for the community to participate in.

the reckoning is here. tighten your assholes, faggots.

the first thing you need to understand is that EVERYTHING right now is a gamble. i mean literally everything. that includes blue chips. so dont run into this with your rent money hoping to double it, thats what the casino is for :funny:

    still with me? ok good...

    investopedia.org

go over the introduction section.. its kind of dull reading, especially if you dont like math, but its your foundation. you cant build a house if you dont know what lumber and concrete are, right? once you understand the basics then its time to make a decision about what you want to do.. invest or speculate. alot of people refer to speculation as "investing". its a misnomer. what the average person does in the stock market is speculating.

if you have a shitload of freetime during market hours, daytrade. if you dont, be more cautious in your purchases and look for medium to long positions. if you dont want to touch(i.e. savings account/CD/bonds) then we start looking at dividends and longterm viability.

once you have a basic idea of what exactly the beast is made of and how you want to tackle it, then the fun starts. the current market moves on headlines and thats a pretty scary situation.. especially around earnings time. but there is a TON of money to be made. back when gold was moving around 700/oz i was SCREAMING at people to buy. today it closed over 1400/oz.. thats 100% return in right around 2 years(and in certain cases, tax free).

but you also need to understand that in order for me or you to make money, someone has to LOSE money. the losers far outweigh the winners, especially right now. people are still reeling from the pullback in may of last year. so like i said earlier... DO NOT PUT MONEY YOU CANNOT AFFORD TO LOSE INTO THE MARKET.

if its legit silver, i would get it the fuck out and start looking at how much you truely have.. silver on my count should hit 80/oz within the next 2 years.. some speculate as high as 200... its nothing to fuck with, especially with so much federal intervention and so much instability in europe.

Eyerate, your going to have to wait for this forum to get more traffic before making these threads. Everyones obviously going to "troll" your threads right now, imo.

    yo eyerate quick question:

when u say 'day trade' what u mean?

can i invest in a stock and then if it rises lets say 1% then quickly sell it and make a 1% profit?

if i do it with like 10k i can make 100 dollars straight like that?

    or am i missing something?

i been thinkin bout this stock market shit for a while now but never really got serious bout it til recently

early start my dude.. im ahead of the trend. if sinner and bino are the only 2 serious posters, this shit is still a success. and where does the traffic come from if we dont have legit topics?

im looking to push the trolling out and get the legit community building content in as fast as possible.. its a tug of war right now and without some people picking up the rope, this place will devolve into a trolling wasteland in no time. i think we can agree that wouldnt be a good look.

yes, choppa.. thats the idea. :funny:

you obviously need to deduct brokerage fees(i use scottrade, 7$/per on anything over 4$)

so lets say you invest 10k, you actually invested 10,007$.. it rises 1% and you sell, you pay another 7$ brokerage fee and you walk away with a profit of 86$.. then at tax time you pay capgains to the taxman.. but basically yes.

now for that to happen, the stock needs to rise 1%(or the demand for that stock if its low volume).. on the inverse, you can also "short" a stock, which is essentially betting on that stock falling.. thats a more advanced way to trade and not something i recommend to anyone who doesnt really have their finger on the marketpulse and a firm grasp of the basics.
