...Are you saying you think gay people should be killed? REALLY?
Well ur semi correct about this. Where your missing it again is in the historical context of homosexuality in those times
“In the twenty first century many Christians confuse modern homosexuality, a committed, faithful, noncultic same sex partnership, with the ancient world’s sexual abuse of slaves, pederasty, rape of foreigners, cultic significance, and pagan fertility rites. None of those ancient practices are analogs to modern homosexuality
It says if you treat a man like you would a woman, you are to be killed. It never referenced any of that. You're grasping at straws.
If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them. Leviticus 20:13
the proof to what u just said. but im sure BP has a way to tell everyone that we cant read
Its not about reading its about understanding the historical context. Like anything else from history ud like to know about u learn about the culture, this was writtin to people of the time. Not to you. Not for our generation or how things have morphed into what they are today.
Point blank period. It seems u rather just leave all that out.
There's context in "kill the gays"? You really are a horrible, stupid person.
Ya u fuckin idiot. Study homosexuality in ancient cultures, then tell me its the same as u know homosexuality to be today.
Homosexuality in ancient Greece
Heres from your history book wikipedia
The story of the occult in world history is also a story of homosexuality. By occult, we mean the formalized religious expression of pagan culture as opposed, for example, to the philosophical ideas of Hellenic paganism. In The Occult Roots of Nazism, historian Nicholas Goodrick-Clarke identifies the roots of occultism in western history: Occultism has its basis in a religious way of thinking, the roots of which stretch back into antiquity....Its principal ingredients have been identified as Gnosticism, the Hermetic treatises on alchemy and magic [rooted in Gnosticism], Neo-Platonism, and the Cabbala....Gnosticism properly refers to the beliefs of certain heretical sects among the early Christians that claimed to possess gnosis, or special esoteric knowledge of spiritual matters....The Gnostic sects disappeared in the fourth century, but their ideas inspired the dualistic Manichaean religion of the second century (Goodrick-Clarke:17)
The word "homosexual" was first used in the very late in 19 th century CE. There was no Hebrew word that meant "homosexual." Thus, whenever the word is seen in an English translation of the Bible, one should be wary that the translators might be inserting their own prejudices into the text.
Feelin dumb as fuck yet x
the passage i mentioned does not say "homosexuality" it says laying with a man like you would a woman. this is the passage that SPECIFICALLY calls being gay an abomination. if this only refers to homosexual prostitution and not at all to being gay, then u are also saying the bible DOES NOT call being gay an abomination at all. correct?
It says "AS YOU WOULD A WOMAN".
thats not what im saying. Im saying the old testiment law was not written for us, it was not for our time it was totally a different thing back then, and therefore drawing certain conclusions from it for our time without understanding WHO it was for and directed TO and the historical context it was intentended is wrong. If u really want to know how things are viewed for now go by what the new testiment has to say about a certain subject.
And the New Testament written 2000 years ago is meant for our time?
Isnt that a bit hypocritical thing to say.
2000 Years was enough time for the OT to be rendered moot but 2000 years later the New Testament doesnt need a Newer Testament...How was 1AD not a completely totally different thing in comparison to what we are living today?
ok lets play ur game. quote or link me what it says in the new testament about homosexuality
It's part of the bible, stop using that strawman excuse of "well it's not in the new testement".
Old testiment is exactly what it sounds like. For the times of old. Unless your a jew.
Ducking the question, and New Testement is also old. If you're saying we should forget the bible as it's out dated, I agree.
Right. But the new testiment is ment until the end of time. Old testiment was ment for a certain people group.
