Eddie Alvarez.....UFC makes an offer, Bellator matches, Eddie turns down Bellator.....Bellator sues...Eddie sues. Dana says Eddie won't get an instant shot but he's not even in the UFC yet....

all comes down to what constitutes a matched offer.

ufc offered alvarez a fight on fox

    ufc offered alvarez ppv points

two things bellator can't exactly match

Well......seems unlikely that he'll go back to Bellator....so we are to assume that he is UFC bound?

makes bellator look like a bunch of dickheads really.

crazy thing is that alvarez isn't all that big of a draw when it comes to ratings. rebney appears to be vince mcmahon esque at enforcing contracts.

    up to the court.

if they decide bellator matched ufc's deal, bellator has the rights to eddie alvarez. i believe eddie would have to sit out for a year or so to beat the whole matching period things, and when that was over they would likely be throwing less money at him (he is currently offered waaaaaaaaaay more than benson henderson makes)

Eddie lost his drawing power when he lost his belt.....I thinking letting him go is the best thing Bellator could do....focus on creating some new stars...

Dropping Eddie WOULDN'T help Bellator at all though.
AND though loosing the belt did tarnish Eddie's reputation,
    IT WAS ONLY SLIGHTLY.
He is still considered one of the best LWs,
people just stopped arguing he was THE best LW outside the UFC...

Dana trying for the pick-up goes to show you Eddie still has name value.
If anything, If I was Alvarez, I would of signed a 2-3 fight deal in Bellator,
tried to reattain my belt from Chandler, avenging the loss as well...
THEN go running for the UFC.

WITH THIS BULLSHIT in place though...I don't even get whats going on...
As bad as this sounds, Eddie probably helped do this to himself.

If you get the belt in Bellator, you're kinda fucked. Eddie's been around a while and always takes alotta damage....it's kinda now or never for him in the UFC

Well it may be never then with this court B.S. , from what Makabreli said,
we could see Eddie fighting in an Organization against his own will.

And I'm pretty sure Dana has rules for his Champs as well.
You can look at it like your fucked,
but if you look at it in the sense you brought up,
Bellator is CREATING stars, once that star gets a belt,
you don't want the face of your division using that to walk into the UFC.

Bellator isn't UFCs bush league (officially) , and the Champ rule is probably only in place because of UFCs existence.

as far as talent goes, everyone should want eddie alvarez on their roster. as far as ratings go, he really didn't move the needle that much. the boring ass heavyweights pulled in better ratings.

either way, eddie is currently being offered more than he is worth as far as solid results go. as far as the fans are concenerned, yeah we want to see him in the ufc but from a personal standpoint the man probably has both offers taped to the back of his wife's head every night.

Maybe the UFC was trying to make an offer Bellator thought was too much to counter?

part of it, yeah. but at the same time, viacom's pockets > ufc's pockets.
