list them, foul bitches
Full Metal Jacket....I wouldn't say it was complete shit but its overrated and no where near Platoon
Word at Scarface too
A Clockwork Orange
plan 9 from outer space
could u elaborate on that? =)
Yes, it got a lot of praise, both critically and publically, and I think it's absolute trash.
"ain't really shit"?
my all-time favorite to list would probably have to be braveheart... though it isn't really a bona fide "classic". more like an overhyped oscar film.
The Scarface animosity is truly disheartening.
yeah dex, not saying anybody in this thread is guilty of it, but a lot of people hate it before they even see it because of the praise it's received from the "bet hip hop crowd". they assume that, because they're dumb, they wouldn't know what makes a good film, so they go into watching it with a condescending and negative eye. the hate has become just as fashionable.
a lot of those rappers and their lemming fans possibly don't know what makes a good film (note i said 'possibly' and not 'probably'... i'm not making any judgements here) and like scarface for the wrong reasons, though.
it's a good film featuring a tour-de-force acting showcase... period.
I never said Scarface is absolute trash you dickhead who hasn't even seen Braveheart. I did say it ain't really shit. It has about 3 good scenes interspersed between 2.5 hrs of near-incest and boring-ass dialogue.
Like you've done with Braveheart you damn hypocrite. Hush up.
I agree with Scarface....
The Matrix (all of them.... the first was OKAY. Nothing more, but the rest were bad.)
Kill Bill (fucking horrible)
Star Wars (no chance but to be the most overrated films ever)
i can't think of any others at the moment.
Scarface definately. Good film, terribly overrated.
How can you possibly mention Braveheart or Gladiator in this thread?
thats a cult 'classic'(an ironic one at that) not the kind of classic I was talking about. Since you bring up an overated cult classic though ill offer one; The warriors. What is the point of making a film about rival gangs and having the central gang be the pussiest group of people on earth? the entire film is them running away from everybody they come into contact with.
I know, I was going to put The Graduate, but decided to go for a little Ed Wood instead
Definitely, not horrible but overrated for sure.
Gone with the wind
Army of Darkness.
Although it's probably more of a cult classic, so many people pretend the movie is worth watching, and it's terrible from any perspective.
Separate names with a comma.
