    Yes.

The name that comes to mind first and the best example of this is Eminem.

I say usualyl no. But I do feel like Joe Budden and Eminem have accomplished being great emcees. Its more about content, flow, and originality. Tho they both have mistepped on albums, their skill levels are top notch.

Also, I feel alot of the reason rappers dont have classics, is because of labels. They dont care about classics, they care about sales, which is where Budden mistepped, and where EM always goes wrong. Especially his last album. Them shits is just awful

    Hell no.

If you can't make a great album, why the fuck should you be considered as a great MC?

And to dude who said UGK, they have a bonafied classic in "Ridin' Dirty".

dude is has one of the most fluid flow, candence rhyme scheme, and a delivery that anybody can fuck with, but no classics to back him up. that could be caused with the beats he fucks with though.

    same as budden

    Yes, imo.

There are tons of great mc's without the disk to back it up. But they consistently drop dope rhymes and songs.

A great MC without a classic album?

I'm not sure that you can be.
Certainly there are multiple aspects to emceeing, but product is at the heart of it.
If you can't come across on an album I'm not sure that you're a great emcee.
Classic albums aren't as hard to come by in Rap as it's believed.

Id say yes. You can be a great MC with just great albums. To me Classic is something that 5-10 or more years later people will still be saying remember that shit. Most of the people with Classics are either great MCs or Legends

People tend to say that Eminem has fallen off because of a less-than-amazing album. That shit just doesn't make sense. He still posesses the same skill he always has, regardless of what tracks were chosen for the lp.

    Also.....
Kanye West had an incredible album, right? Because of that, would you say he's an incredible MC? Skill wise? No. He's just not that good yet. The difference is obvious. This thread requires that you have common sense in order to see the reality.
