    Sup ya'll. I would like a detail definition of "warmth". How to listen for it, how to measure it and whatever else ya'll know.

    Basically, how can you tell which mic-pre had mor warmth, how do I listen for it. Thanks a bunch!!

    Warmth = Harmonic distortion caused form the logrithmic burn time required for current to pass through a standard diode vacuum tube with a smooth slew rate between peaks in the oscillation.

    Warmth = low-mid boost.

    But 30-year experienced engineers who grew up on tape will be sure to tell you that it's the magical warmth gnomes of analog that give it that special "umpfh"
