I want to build my own portable recording booth. Does anyone have any experience with this? Do you have plans/blueprints or know of any websites that I can use? What sorts of materials did you use.... etc.

    Thanks

One thing I done, back in the day before I could ever afford a booth, was go to Wal-Mart, Pier 1, etc, and look for a slim Armoir, on rollers.
    Something about 7ft tall.
We'd take the shelves out, line it with Auralex, and that'd be that.
Sure, it still ran us around $250, but at that time, we didn't have anything else.

Oh okay, Well... I think the PVC idea is a bit better dont you think? I mean considering they do the same thing and plus the pvc idea is portable.

Actually, they're both portable, since the first has rollers, and would provide better overall sound absorption, because of material it's built from, instead of PVC frames, which leave the walls to be covered by an acoustic blanket, unlike the forementioned, which uses wood as the walls, instead of having an open source.

You have to realize a few things.

#1. Homemade booths will not be soundproofed...and most oftenly come out muffling your shit up.

#2. To get a good sound inside the booth, the booth will need to be done RIGHT, with the right material...NOT plywood alone.
Double walls, insulated with acoustic insulation between, quietwood being the inner wall, sheetblok, and your choice of acoustic foam will set you in the right direction, but, once you've come upon this material, your loking at $2,000 and at this point, WhisperRoom is a few bucks away, and a better option.

Building a booth at home, unless you plan to REALLY do it right, is simply NOT worth the time and effort, it would be much better to treat a seperate room, or closed off area, and go that route, if your budgets small.
