I got the Black Ice album the other week.

Malik Yusef's "A Cold Day In Hell" is a good one. It came out about a year ago.

Billy Collins: The Last Cigarette... Beau Sia's CD is kinda set to music, it's not nearly as good as his live stuff... Kim Addonizio has a cd out, also set kinda to music. Ani DiFranco has a few spoken word tracks on Educated Guess, Sage Francis Sprinkles them around on his Still Sick series... there's a good one on Still Sick by... well, some guy. Also, he has a spoken word version of Hey Bobby on Dead Poet Live, which is really sick.

For the most part, spoken word cd's aren't very good. They lose most of the energy that makes them entertaining on the stage, and they don't stand up on the paper, or heard repeatably. If you can get live recordings off limewire or bittorrent or something, go that way, maybe buy the cd to support the artist if you have the money, but it won't be nearly as good, in my experience... the only exception, that I've heard so far, is Saul Williams' She, because that's not spoken word, it's just poetry with an ear for sound, and it's read well on the cd. Beau Sia's book, however, is hilarious... A Night Without Armour 2, The Revenge. He took all the titles of poems from Jewel's book, and wrote new poems for them, andb like his spoken word, they're a crack up.
