Logic, Pro Tools & Reason works best for me. I highly recommend these.
This is an argument that will never end. Everyone has their 'favorite'. The best way to go is to just try em all out and then go from there.
Which ever one allows you to get your ideas out the fastest- get it.

^^^ Definitely agree with this... I use reason for drums and most instruments. I record vocals and my guitar/bass with Logic. It's a nice one-two punch and very easy to integrate.
That's the coolest thing about Logic (if you have a mac)... it works with any type of hardware and you can slave most other beat-making software programs to it so they all work together. It's tight.
fl studio mayne.....thats what i use, check out some of my work, fyebeatz.com

I would have to say Reason 5. It's one of the most solid sounding programs IMO. FL sounds dry. Cubase and Logic is cool too, but Reason is my choice.
Want To Be A Quality Producer? Nice
1st let me say congrats on wanting to try out making beats!
** Try google for info on specific beat programs and softwares **
I personally prefer FL Studio even though alot of people talk about it, working with that program can help you see the contrast between its self and other programs that mabe less or more user friendly. Also Many industry producers are now using FL Studio along with the other great softwares like Logic Pro, Reason, and Even Protools For Making Beats.
Hope this helped out some,

i say reason but to each its own
undoubtedly logic 9 + nexus
Maschine is good because it gives you software, very useable sounds right away (some of the best vinyl kits I've ever heard too) and a controller that seriously is the best feeling controller in the game. Other programs give you great software, but Maschine gives you this amazing controller too. About $550 bucks for all that, and one of the best set ups for sample chopping too. The controller can even be used for other programs, AND you can load Maschine as a plug in anywhere.
Granted, I never use it anywhere but as stand alone...
