    yeah, the criterion disc used to be on my wish list, but i took it off for some reason

    was it cinema paradiso? about a young boy who befriends an old projectionist who shows movies in a small town recovering from wwii?

    anybody seen cinema paradiso (1989), btw?

    it won best foreign film at the oscars in 1990, and its fans are raving mad over it

    yea, i saw that several months ago. it actually came out in '88.

    and i saw the extended version, before i saw the original...which was probably not the best idea, if anyone decides to watch it, i recommend you watch the original instead. i should have read more of the reviews(i'm on netflix), before deciding to do that....looks like i wasn't the only one who felt that way.

    so because of that, i only gave it 3 stars(out of 5). i was somewhat disappointed and let down, at least from the hype that it received...although still a very good film. it was just a little too dragged out. then when i watched the original version(minus the 51 extra minutes), i felt like too much was left out. lol...certain loose ends were left untied.

    nigga, you should get it like yesterday.

    and i saw head-on like 2 weeks ago. i didn't even notice that you mentioned it, until i went back looking to see if anyone had listed Harakiri.

    i have Faith Akin's In July in my queue as well.
