i've always worked with a stock soundcard .. now i'm gettin the Emu 1212m .. i've looked at my current soundcard and was jus wondering how i'm going to go about taking it out and installing the new one .. also, will i always keep the 1212m in, or will i take it out when i'm done recording and put the stock back in for just browsing the internet and shit? also in my current soundcard its got all the plugins for the mouse and all this other shit, will the 1212 have all that?

stupid questions, but hey, it's my first soundcard other then the shitty stock ..

Okay you will only need the E-Mu in there, all you do is open the back and remove the old one and install the new one...The 1212M is actually two different cards so you may have to move a few things around to make them fit in together..

You stick the cards in then close it back up and then insert the driver CD and run that...the drivers for your mouse work with OS not the hardware itself and the same goes for the hardware so don't worry about that

You can run everything through the new soundcard so you don't need the old one also they may be conflicts so it is better to just get rid of it:thumb:

If you can't read binary, it says this.

You open the computer case, and remove the stock soundcard from the PCI slot.
You then place the E-mu into that same PCI slot, install the drivers, and restart your computer.

Since your sound card is stock it might be intergrated so you wont be able to take that out, you will hafta jus disable it.

If not, it's a pci card. All you hafta do is pull the old one out and insert the new one and install the drivers thats on the disc.

And all you hafta do is slide the left side panel off to open your computer

If it's a button to open the case - my money says Dude gots a dell...

...and after you uninstall the drivers from within windows - it's a good idea to disable the builtin audio from the BIOS.

If your soundcard ports are in the same area as your Keyboard and Mouse - you have integrated sound. If it's lower and perpendicular (sp) to the area where your keyboard and mouse are - you have a PCI or ISA (or that other funky AMR thingy) card.

Yea, but the ISA is almost obsolete so more then likely it's a PCI, but it's all in the same area you'll notice it when you open it.

if its a dell it should have a little part you press in on the top and on the bottom

then you just open it like a book.

    and im SURE its integrated.

you CAN NOT take it out.

Some cases require you to loosen screws, some just slide off
