Tell me what you all think of the 80's influence on Urban music production lately?

"Touch" is insane. The synthetic sound of the 80's is back.

When done properly and presented in healthy doses its cool. I don't want too much of it because it can get annoying sometimes. I think its a nice mix though.

The Neptunes seem to love the 80s. Gwen Stefani's holla back song reminds me of the 80s also...sort of a girl's "We Will Rock You" y'know?

As far as R&B...my mind is blank, I can't think of anything other than Touch that has an 80s feel to it. I LOVE that song though.

It's interesting what sources producers tap into.

    So the synthesizers are back???

What would be cool is if someone would loop the opening synth sequence of Annie Lenox's "Sweet Dreams" and put a snappin' break beat under it. I've got an ear... if I knew how to do that type shit, I'd be paid. Sometimes, I hear country tunes that I know I could freak lovely.

I don't know... you might wanna scratch that... the more I think about it, the more it might come out sounding P. Diddy-ish, but it could be very commercially viable.

I heard this Christian rapper rock over Monk's "Evidence" melody and it was ill!!

Have you heard Rahsaan Roland Kirk's "Inflated Tear" joint? It gives me ideas.
