It is repeated time and again by atheists and non-christians how the churches and self-proclaimed christians killed untold numbers of people during the crusades, the inquisition etc.. and it is true that there have been horrid atrocities committed by those who were or are not following the true tenets of Jesus Christ.

However, the body count under atheistic regimes have been in the hundreds of millions in the last century. When this is brought up they counter with untruths, that it was political persection and not religious, this is a lie. There has been an enormous amount of historical and verified facts as well as the firsthand testimonies of the persecutions and massive slaughters of the religious and the outlawing of religion under atheistic regimes, laws that led to the suffering, torture and death of hundreds of millions of people and the specific targeting of christians and others who were forced to go underground.

To deny this is an insult to all those who have been persecuted and lost their lives as this persecution still goes on in various countries.

Atheists don't commit atrocities, Christians don't commit atrocities, Muslims don't commit atrocities.

    People commit atrocities.

These murders were committed in the name of collectivist ideologies, not atheism.

What it means is that assholes need to be scared of going to hell before they start doing good. How about making "being good" into a logical and reasonable thing to be? Sounds more genuine to me.

First off, atheism is not anti-religious. They just aren't religious lol, they preach just like the mormons walking the street.

Athiesm is not stalinism, maoism, AND ESPECIALLY NOT MARXISM.

Marxism is a utopia that has never happened, it allows freedom of religion.

Imperialism has killed more people then every communist/athiest regime in existence; It's also the leading government superpower aswell. On top of that, the 3rd worlds are poor because of capitalism.

Cuba - Main export, United states (We don't do that no more).
SouthKorea - Main export, North Korea. (turns out the north beat the south.)
Vietnam - Main export, China (Imperial socialists)
China - Main export, United states (aren't we a few countries in debt?)
India - Main export, United states
Indonesia - Main export, United states

The list goes on, just pointing out where capitalism is in the trade.

Should I remind you, your talking about starvation and wars. Not straight up genocide/murder.

DemiGod's post was good in the way that an oversimplified facebook platitude is good, but it really doesn't refute the charge of the video.

The actions of these people aren't a knock against atheism, but ironically, a knock against religion.

The strands of Marxism that lead to these brutalities were basically quasi-religions motivated by the same utopian-collectivist impulses that underpin Christianity, Islam, etc.
