The word holiday derived from the notion of "Holy Day", and gradually evolved to its current form. The word holiday comes from the Old English word hāligdæg. The word originally referred only to special religious days. In modern use, it means any special day of rest or relaxation, as opposed to normal days away from work or school.

Easter marks the end of Lent, a forty-day period of fasting, prayer, and penance. The last week of the Lent is called Holy Week, and it contains Good Friday, commemorating the crucifixion and death of Jesus.

Easter is linked to the Jewish Passover.

fair enough. passover is centered around the spring equinox, like so many other spring festivals man has had throughout the ages. it makes sense that the timing would coincide.

my point is simply that the so called 'secular' injections into easter are not secular at all, they are pagan and pagans have been celebrating the spring equinox for longer than christians or jews have.

You're sure that it wasn't that Christians were celebrating Pagan holidays themselves? How do you blame the Pagans when it takes a great number of Christians to follow along?

it derived from a attempt of satan to confuse and distort the true gospel. any attempt to take our eye off christ (god) and put it onto a idol would greatly make the god of hate.. happy.. this attempt has been perpetuated since constantine and later thru the media in an attempt too entice us further from the tru.. way.

i doubt it was shaytan who had planned this, though.

the end result of christmas/easter is the same - bringing family together.

and whether you like it or not, during christmas you hear alot more about jesus.

not as much santa claus (satan's claws), but word spreads.

that's true.. but it's a perverse aspect. "oh jesus birthday, we get present's COOL" or "oh easter is the day of reser...did some one say egg hunt? FUCK YA" it's all tools to take away the magnificence and glory that should be directed at god. but i admit.. i love the nostalgic symbolism and i put up the decoration's every year.. but im versed in the belief. those that aren't, all it does is make it more and more confusing then it should be. kids probably think the santa clause is a metaphor for jesus.

and I never looked at Santa and the easter bunny as part of christianity. Its nowhere in the bible. It was added for the kids...

so maybe your faith needs something like this for the kids

easiest way to tell that santa and the bunny aren't part of christianity: they aren't soaked in blood and battered with guilt.
