... yes, it could be considered the simpler route.

but that's only when it comes to doing anything religious (prayer, attend church, etc.).

granted, as an atheist you don't really need to worry about the shit religious people worry about.

but to deal with death on your own accord, and question shit in your own words is a lot harder than you think.

i also think, because of this reason alone, religious people have alot more regrets than atheists do.

    agree/disagree/fuck off?

Lol its only hard when we make that switch. Once we are enlightened by logic and common sense then life is easier.

The majority of the great philosophers and scientists have been theists, honestly.

    And i'm an atheist.

There's nothing superior about us. It's largely a matter of wiring.

i'd hope there's more atheists like you in this world, but i'm wrong when i assume this.

most of them think they know everything and have it all down packed.

    yeah, understandable.

i am yet to converse with a muslim turned atheist in real life, save the death jokes for a double ml thread.

agree that it's not a free lunch. disagree/not sure about atheists having less regrets. dunno why that would be true.
that seems to ignore (to some extent) the cultural environment that i think accounts for what you point to in your first sentence. iirc currently scientists in america are somewhere around 40% atheist. i haven't seen any figures but i would bet anything that if you took that same poll 100 years ago that percentage would be drastically reduced, and if you went back even further it would shrink to next to nothing.

Let's do lunch. I'll bring my Quran, which I still own. I keep it by the toilet when I need something to read.

Too much being made of nothing as usual.

Yes, a trait unique to atheists.

The greatest difficulty for me was adjusting to the change (as DAD said). Having gone nearly 40 years believing, I had a lot of habits to break.

When at a funeral now, or any other celebration where religion is present, it's funny to me how many believers look at me with disapproval for not having sung the hymns or bowed my head to pray etc..

It's also funny when people on my fb comment about my 'disrespect' when I post anti religious posters etc.. I've lost a few friends due to not being religious. Imo, if they couldn't accept my Atheism, they weren't really friends.

Sounds like what they don't accept is your Anti-theism, not your Atheism.

Well, it's not as though I'm in everyone's faces, ranting etc.. I simply post the things I approve of or believe in...much as they post things about God. I dunno why it's so taboo for me to do that, and not them.

nobody said it's taboo, if anything there's more atheists posting their views online than vice versa.

these days a religious man can't profess his faith or tenants of belief without facing mockery.

I would never accuse any atheist of taking the easy way out. Most I know, personally, overcame a lot of emotional and relational turmoil to get to where they are.
