If you plan on being in the music industry it would be wise to learn more about what it is you do and what you can benefit from your work. Their are many different ways artists can get paid from their music, iTunes, radio play, film music, Satellite radio (such as SIRIUS XM), internet radio, cable TV music channels and similar platforms for streaming sound recordings, pandora etc., even from other music users including hotels, nightclubs, restaurants and stores.

    Take Care of Business
Now lets say you put out a song on the radio and it does great, you're in regular rotation and maybe even on 100 more radio stations nationally, you cannot get payed royalties unless you have your business set up properly. You can have $200,000 of your money waiting for you can't even get it! Songs must be registered with a performance rights company (BMI, ASCAP, SESAC, etc.) and must be copywritten by a Publishing Company to collect publishing royalties. BMI nor ASCAP will hand out money to random people, so take of biz and get your money!
