Yeah one day I was chillin' in my room, just me and my guitar, and I started thinking about the stuff that's going on in the world. You know the usual death and disaster, etc. Plus seeing how much money ($80 Billion) we'll put into war but we wouldn't spend a tenth of our resources or our time to help or aid our own people. I was also having strong thoughts about my spirituallity and my relationship with God which leads me to beleive that the end is coming or rather the end is here. So I just started playing and mumbling words and eventually it came to this....

    Apocolypse Now

    War
    What is it all for
    We spend money for more
    What does the future hold
    For the human race

    The prez
    80 billion dolla' fee
    All to support our greed
While children have nothing to eat
    On American soil

    Why must our women cry
While their sons go to fight and dIe
    It's just so insane
    Can somebody please explain

    Violence
    Plagues all mankind
In the ghetto you will find
What festers in the hearts and soul
    Will surely unfold

    Excess
    Kills our society
    Paving roads to misery
No hope for the unborn child
    Suicidal denial

Why can't the poor and forsaken
Have what the rich have taken
    Blood is spilled everyday
There has to be better way

    Everybody talking about a revolution
    But nobody wants to die
Everyone is speaking of a real solution
    But nobody wants to try
    Everybody looking at the institution
    But nobody wants to pry
    Everyone learned about the consititution
    But nobody, nobody, nobody, nobody

    Everybody talking about heaven
    But nobody wants to fly
Everybody speaking 'bout moving on up
But nobody wants to get high
Everybody saying that its gonna get better
But we all know that's a lie
Everybody talking about the end of the world
    But nobody, nobody, nobody, nobody

    Apocolypse now

if you think to much about the world as a whole it causes depression, shame.

but this was a good joint fam. i personally liked this one :

    Everybody talking about a revolution
    But nobody wants to die
Everyone is speaking of a real solution
    But nobody wants to try
    Everybody looking at the institution
    But nobody wants to pry
    Everyone learned about the consititution
    But nobody, nobody, nobody, nobody

    Reminded me of Wyclef-esqe...

    'Violence
    Plagues all mankind
In the ghetto you will find
What festers in the hearts and soul
Will surely unfold' - I felt this stance personally and the line about "revolution".. Niceness..

    peace!

    wooooord up

LOVE THIS RIGHT HERE!!!....hot....I read it out loud and yea this be a cool lil song for real.....laid out wth a quitar...it is on some wyclef vibe....dealing with current events and whatnot....the twist of word play I found interesting....the flip on the "nobody...nobody...nobody"....so real so true...so scary...how everybody says one thing but then WE ALL do the other thing?...why I dont know its human nature...but yeah there is a growing sense of the end of the world...and something even more crazy that we are living in the last days now....I like how you broke this down....well organized....like the beginning where you brake down war....prez...violence....each stanza said it all with only a few words....very dark but truthful poem/song....inspired me yo cause I write alot of stuff like this and its nice to know I'm not the only one that see's the world falling apart

    PEACE AND GODBLESS

    werd.

sorry Ive been laggin on the replies.

the topic you are hitting is important. The youth needs to be aware of the problems because only we can fix them. The old men are already tied down to tradition, but the question is when? Think big start smallll.

    The prez
    80 billion dolla' fee
    All to support our greed
While children have nothing to eat
    On American soil

^ good shit right there. Here we are in a country that doesn't want us, and our excuse is that we are there to help. We are going to fix what we consider a disaster of a country. And I am supposed to buy it as our own country hobbles around. Sweep the untasty meat under a carpet. We are living life for an image.

    Why must our women cry
While their sons go to fight and dIe

^ very nice. nobody wins except the fat cats in suit and tie hiding behind 6 feet of concrete.

    Excess
    Kills our society
    Paving roads to misery
No hope for the unborn child
    Suicidal denial

^im not sure what you meant by the context of the last line, but this stanza is by far my favorite. Excess is what it means to be american. Its what we slave after. Its no longer about enough, its about what you can have.

Everybody saying that its gonna get better
But we all know that's a lie
Everybody talking about the end of the world
    But nobody, nobody, nobody, nobody

ahhh a nice depressing ending. The side effects of honesty.

keep the deep thoughts flowing man. The time has come to spread the word.

Ahhh. ANother sweet song of justice...
Very straightforward, which in this rare case made the message more tangable and more powerful.

    Everybody talking about a revolution
    But nobody wants to die

Whoa! Is this what it takes? Isnt this what we are trying to prevent? We must collaborate on strategies however, and no one seems to be steppin forward. The black clad anrchists go as far as throwin rocks at windshields, but hell, are the old strategies working?
Everyone is speaking of a real solution

Yeah talk talk talk, That's what were doin here on the website, right? But are we all unified in terms of tangible solutions? It seems like we are the same page in terms of defining what the fuck is wrong....

(chain email a consumer boycott---no more blood for oil, right all?)

  8. THis was a very good piece. Ot highlighted the individual and the group struggle. Ten frustrations were definately felt in the lines such as:

    Everybody talking about heaven
    But nobody wants to fly
Everybody speaking 'bout moving on up
But nobody wants to get high
Everybody saying that its gonna get better
But we all know that's a lie
Everybody talking about the end of the world
    But nobody, nobody, nobody, nobody

This was very hard hitting at the end, you pointed out a lot of the wordly and spiritual struggles of mankind.

    God Bless.

Great piece man. Good to see something from you. Sad thing about this is that there is a lot more shit going on in the world that you havent any mention. Just shows where we are in life. Last two stanzas ended the poem nicely

    one luv
