(How can anyone with the first letter of their Name tatted within the
Superman logo have a fall from grace? Hold up......Wait a second
    !!!)

Melvin Guillard, 29 year old UFC Lightweight, recently took a loss to his third Named opponent in a row
(beating Fabrício Camões in-between losses to Jim Miller, Joe Lauzon
and most recently Donald "The Cowboy" Cerrone) and now holds a records of 30-11-2-1
    (Two no-contests, One draw).
Denis Siver and Evan Dunham have been Melvin's only credible KOs to date against top competition,
otherwise loosing to Nate Diaz, Rich Clementi and
    Joe Stevenson before him.

The Young-Assassin has talent, but I think Melvin was right,
it is time to change that name to the Middle-Aged Assassin,
his time in the Lightweight division is done; which isn't good for his body size,
as Melvin has fought at Welterweight before
(where he obviously wouldn't find much success now with much bigger opponents)
and probably couldn't make the cut to 145.

Do any of you think Melvin still has the talent to reach the Top of the division in 155?
    Or is he Wasted Talent?

there have been some good opinions on be about this

melvin is a dunce who never learns

he has serious talent but he'll never put it together long enough to make a serious run

    Blackzillians seem terrible

Nobody's seen real success since going there

Rumble missed weight by 400lbs and got cut

Rashad... doesn't really count. Getting beaten by Jones is to be expected

bigfoot got slept by cormier and splattered by cain (did he leave before the cain fight?)

melvin has taken loss after loss, barring one unimpressive win vs camoes

mitrione took his first career loss to kongo, looking totally impotent

and more i remember i'm sure

that gym has serious talent but they don't seem organised; they prolly need a better coach

melvin said the guys didn't respect van arsdale, so maybe they'll do better under sperry

i think he's still near the top, lw is just a ridiculous division.

doesn't appear to be anyone in lw above "win some lose some"

    healthy aldo murders them all

that's why these edgar rematches (mostly this last one) are so annoying

give it enough time and your worst style matchup will come up and fuck you

no division has contenders like lw and they gave edgar a rematch and clogged the division up for no good reason at all

Yeah I don't think BIG FOOT was ever a Blackzillian fully, he was just training there for help.

I can't wait until he mans up and goes up a weight class...Short of a Bantamweight fighter coming up for a fight (Cruz, and I doubt that), there is really no one left AFTER Koch, before him as well :p)

I don't think he is top 5. I would argue he is out of the top 10.
If he is still a top contender you are arguing he is still top 5?

Melvin lost his chance though. I doubt he is getting a big name in his next fight, and if he is destroyed, they will keep in mind it is a scrub he is destroying, and feed him another one after. Melvin may get the Stevenson treatment, Headlining/Co-Headlining FUELTV events.

melvin was never that close to a shot, he fell as soon as he got into consideration

btw, i don't really do rankings anymore, but flipping through some online i ask you to consider quality of the talent pool the person is in. aoki is still ranked highly on most lists. i LOVE aoki, but my dude has failed hard recently. melvin guillard beat people like evan dunham and jeremy stephens before getting beat by people like joe lauzon, jim miller and cowboy cerrone. if mma was wrestling, they would be part of the elimination chamber match for the title at wrestlemania.

and his skillset is dope, its just the same thing that makes him breaks him. people wanna pick apart his grappling and rushes, but the careful guillard is terrible. it's largely a matter of an opponents composure under fire.

so instead of making him a more composed, technical fighter, they need to accentuate the positives while working on the negatives. the aggression and explosiveness is good, just show proper exits, defense, and cardio.

Yeah but we weren't talking about accomplishments. Knocking out someone is an accomplishment in the UFC. Fuck did you see how Dana was hopping on Brandon's nuts after the Shogun fight? Apparently being Knocked out is an accomplishment.

He isn't a top ranked competitor anymore and by that post I see you agree ;)
